Okay, it's come to the point where I have to axe friends off my list daily to make room for more, only to have to explain to them later why I'd axed them, then have to do the same to another to make room for them. I try to keep a couple slots open, too, so when I meet people in game, they can friend me when I advertise our groups are open to new players. But I don't know my friends list is full until I go to add someone else myself.
The friends lists MUST be expanded and/or a lobby put in. How are new players ever going to meet with veterans if we can't talk to them in game. When I advertise our units and website, people react with "what, are you bragging?" or "ugh, another premade" among much more profane things. I declare our identity after I ~salute~ them, or give them a "good fight" compliment.
There is never a chance to explain that we give our website and names not only because we are proud of who we are, but to recruit and gather new players to our flag. But because premades are stomping new players - some of whom are openly asking questions like: how do I set weapon groupings? in chat, they see it as hostile. New players see premades as major threats - which they are, but many people who are playing aren't used to playing in teams, and even veteran gamers haven't figured out that you can chat through the 'social tabs.'
Anyway, you get my point. This is a TEAM game, and MUST have more social functions. Yeah, my veterans are farming newbs to gather up all the mechs and gear we lost with the final reset. But we aren't arsewipes. We are willing to help new players get into the game, if we only had a chance to talk with them in game/in a lobby, and at least add them to our friends list so those who are savvy enough to use the social tab can get teamspeak info and stuff.
And yeah, my mailbox is often full too in the forums, so that's no real solution.
And no, I didn't search the forums for stuff on this topic already. I just had to get this out before I crashed for the night.
Friend list triage...
