As an example: $15/mo gets me 2k MC to spend each month and premium boost for as long as my sub runs for.
(I selected 2000 MC as an arbitrary number that makes sense as a place-holder for discussion purposes.)

After purchasing a mech, just so you can sell it for CB you will get:
1 MC = 1250CB
Example transaction:
Atlas AS7-D = 3870 MC
sell for 4,838,000 CB
$1.00 USD = 214 MC (average between all of the packages offered)
$1.00 USD = 267,500 CB
1 double heat sink = $5.60 (ouch!)

a monthly subscription option which gives some kind of MC bonus would be nice.

The title would be about $35-70 and you had free play after that. All other Mecha games have run on that model... Chromehounds did the same...and ran on the XBOX Live network... Although you paid $56 per year for that network...it was a shared installation with hundreds of other games... I personally have over 40 titles live on XBOX live and Steam.
Frankly...running a monthly fee assumes you have a viable product.
For Chromehounds...I had a Stand alone game which had about 30 decent missions. In addition, I was immediately eligible for MMP play...and the Chromehounds multiverse was every bit as complex as anything projected for MW5. over 3 "nations" at war for 100 major territories (worlds)... each territory had 2-4 separate game maps that could be conqured... AND you could select where and what map you wanted to play. Every condition imaginable was modeled..and played. Each battle had an impact upon your unit's rating...and the progress of your nation's side of the war... If you did well...you recovered battlefield salvage through the purchase system...and it was just amazing.
What we have here is about 4-5 maps with some snow...no viable matching system...no voice com...no weapon balance...no integrated units...and a exceptionally buggy game engine that doesn't play on a majority of the pc base market.
PGI has already captured its primary market...about 400k obsessive compulsive mech heads like me.
If they want to capture more...they will need to seriously review their economic business model. Rather than soaking this captive market like they are doing right now...they will need to make the game fun...affordable...and actually provide a viable product for that non captive market....
Given this scenario...Once (and if ever) PGI gets a viable reliable game engine that constistently WORKS on a much WIDER base of PC's...provides a base of mechs with a plethora of equipment...includes quality game matching modules....voice communication....a viable PvE single player game...plus a viable tournament play option....
Then PGI might be able to attract a much wider market.. Then they can follow the normal game concept of gaining a small amount of revenue from a HUGE market numbered in the millions....rather than the current market model of soaking the small mecha fan base for substantial amounts...
Frankly...a $15 a month fee is rather high....
Most popular games are more modest....and provide a wealth of single and multiplayer options that are not even on the table for discussion in MWO.
While WOW and similar games do both charge a monthly fee and sell game modules...you get a great deal for that investment.

As it stands, I find the pricing of paints and patterns particularly unattractive. If an additional subscription model were to be included, I'd be interested - to loyally aid the game - but I would expect a long hard look at the pricing of the game overall to make all payment options *more* attractive. Prices are too high. Which makes me think too hard on the decision. Which dissuades the casual purchaser (who think like me).

To be honest I would spend more with a subscription
than I do now with the micro-transaction model.
To me I think this would be a turn-off.
