Just a few Suggestions for it...
1. Being able to control throttle and steering while the Battlegrid is up
2. Click and drag icons
3. Color code icons
4. Set units to Teams Alpha, Bravo, ect...
5. A Large opaque battlegrid that can be toggled on/off
6. Timed Icons, 30s 60s 90s timers that disappear after count down.
7. Commander Strat loadouts
What I mean by strat loadouts are pre-configured strategy's that you can make in the mechlab and then while in commander mode in-game, select them from a drop down box, and it'll auto-populate the battlegrid for the team with all the icons and color codes.

Yes, at the moment you can only issue 1 command at a time. You should be about to set waypoints. Defensible positions, Places to Attack, and etc all at the same time.

I know some people thing PUGs are too dumb to respond to commands but I disagree ... i think a MUCH better and MUCH more obvious command mode and display for the team would massively increase PUG co-ordination and make the premade vs teamspeak groups a lot more even.

There are a lot of terrible players out there, but that doesn't matter as much if they're working as a team.

Another thing that would help is extending the prematch time from 10 seconds to 20 seconds and allow/force people to view the battlegrid during that time as the commander sets up a strat. Should also give time to discuss it... for a few seconds at least.

There should be a 20 second breifing room or something before dropping which has only the map and chat so everyone is forced to lok at a more tactical view while the game is loading in
Dont know if that is possible but yes i think that would be awesome.

So... Match maker would find the players first... throw them in a lobby of sorts and give like a 20/30/ect second count down till drop? Maybe showing you what everyone is bringing to the party too?
