I don't get how anyone can look at these and not want to pilot one?

Live a little man. Where is your sense of adventure? ;)

I dont get it, whats so bad about a quad mech other than it is harder to program by just a bit. I mean they are huge walking machines. quads make since, possibly more since than a biped robot.

It doesn't fit their own vision of BattleTech even when their vision conflicts with the official vision set down by FASA.

While it is pretty much never going to happen, after we get some of the core quads, I would really like to see a HdG-2B Hedgehog

I wonder how they could implement a weapon's turret for a Quad? Instead of our view being from the cockpit, maybe it has to be from the weapons turret. So that way, we can still direct the mech's movement with arrow keys/joystick and the turret/view with the mouse.

Its an interesting concept to have to hash out.

They look cool but seem a bit to big to play on the maps we have now ?

Easiest way to implement a turret, like on the Goliath, is to have it be how they do torso twisting with the mouse.

Would quad turrets have full 360 degree rotation?...or limited rotation like a biped torsos? If the turret just behaves like a torso, then thier is no special anything that needs to be done :P sweet!

You can find Quad threads here, and here.

The Devs answered that question here.

Q: Do you plan on have Quads in the near future or is it a long time off? [Skylarr]
A: At this point - no. The reason being that we would need to make entirely new (and widely considered the most difficult) animations for them. Also, they require entirely different pathing due to being much wider and longer of 'foot'. So basically, a lot of work for less gain than a bi-pedal 'Mech. That said, I do like them, and hope that at a later date we have the time and resources to add at least a couple. [Garth]

They should have 360 degree rotation.

Thank you.

Nice to see on that poll though that maybe we aren't such a minority after all. Nearly 240 people voted, with 82.43% in favor of quads.

This is sorta kinda maybe encouraging...
"That said, I do like them, and hope that at a later date we have the time and resources to add at least a couple. [Garth]"

But, ya we're probably screwed for the next 6mo to a year at least....and maybe/probably forever. I guess we'll just have to post more and more quad threads, and hound the devs into submission
