What if there was something akin to General XP, but limited to a particular type of Mech (Type as in all Jenners, Atlases, etc.)? Make it so you gain XP for a mech type at say, double GXP? Also, allow for conversion of chassis-specific XP to Type XP for a more efficient cost. That would be an interesting way of letting people "bypass the grind", I think.

Like... "LIGHT" Mech xp... and the skills that it works towards are Better ECM, AMS, Spotting, Maybe a Bonus to Small Lasers and AC-2s? Like increased cycle rates for them? Longer Narcs? ect ect.

I would go so far as to remove GXP altogether in favor of this, providing you still have the ability to transfer "light xp" to "med xp".
I don't think that piloting a Jenner should help much toward piloting and Atlas. These two mechs have very little crossover in gameplay tactics and mechanics. Maybe even limit XP transfer to one class up or down, or stronger penalties to transferring more than one class. I.e. a 20% penalty per weightclass change (transfering xp from a light to an assault would be at a 60% penalty)

To combine something that I said in another thread.... Make Variants get bonuses on certain things... Make the Jenner D a better scout with a bonus towards spotting, ECM, AMS, ect... and Make the Jenner K better at Harassing with bonuses towards weapon cool down, range, convergence, ect...

wrong thread Ciel Noir. Anyways... ECM or not... Variant specific skills would be a great addition to role warfare. Only thing I don't like about it is that it guides my customizing. Another thought is a split tree.... You can either take a 5% increase to spotting... OR... you can take a 5% cooldown reduction to your weapons, BUT you can't have both.
