Can I get some clarification on this: "but mostly camo spec will require MC to make changes".Will I be charged real currency for changing my Centurion from green to black?

Thats how F2P games make money- selling convenience and vanity items.

I, for one, welcome our mech skin tophat/tuxedo overlords.

This is where I actually agree with micro-transactions. I prefer F2P games that focus more on paying for aesthetic things rather than pay to win. I guess for me it makes the developer seem less money grubby and I'm more likely to give them money as a kudos. While I have a nice disposable income, I don't like supporting a business model that seems ready to fleece over 50 or 60 dollars for the life of the product (unless that money is clearly going to supporting infrastructure like in a proper MMO).

I'm really split on the F2P models that are popular now. I like how it's sort of a throwback to old APOGEE and id software games where episode 1 was free and the rest you paid for, but it just seems like F2P games now end up costing double or triple than a comparable $50 one time cost game to get the same (non-grindy) gameplay experience.

I really wish this game wasn't f2p model. I like the old expansion pack model better :P

my only question on this is do i have to pay just to change the color of a camo to make it look better? (in my case the PC gamer skin looks bad on an atlas in it's current colors)

They should allow us to repaint our mechs without restriction with cbills for a limited time.. like say.. 3 day? 7 days? 2 weeks? 1 month? IMO, the ones you pay for MC should always be available permanently for you to swap it on any other mech you have, just like the pcgamer skin.

It takes skilled technicians years to learn how to apply ballistic/laser proof paint. You think that kind of training comes cheap?

Completely superficial crap that only other people can ever see?

Perfect pay feature. If making people pay for paint jobs keeps PGI from having to resort to assigning MC tags to functional equipment, then I'll pay for the paint job. If you don't want to pay for it, stick to stock/house colors.

This, camo and bobbleheads etc will need to cost MC for them to make much money, I doubt there's all that many people who'd buy the cbill available mechs with MC.

No you can just drag that skin off your camp slot and you'll be in the original mech skin.

And yeah vanity items has always been the F2P model, nothing new here.

I'll gladly pay for camo, however I hope it's per-design and not per mech. Paying for the same design on different mechs would be unfortunate.

I'm fully expecting it to be per mech for custom jobs.

This seems like exactly the sort of thing that Free 2 Play models thrive on - visual customization and cosmetics.

Much better part of the business model than paying money for anything that has any effect on gameplay.

These are the exact things they should be selling.

I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay for something that is somewhat important to the BT universe.

Like a Mechwarrior video game?

Seriously cosmetics are how you pay for the game. Have you never heard of League of Legends, Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, or Planetside 2? Or really, almost anything using the Free to Play business model. Cosmetics and aesthetics - stuff that doesn't change the game but makes people who want to stand out able to do so. This is exactly how it is supposed to work.
