I used to play a game called Jailbreak when I was a kid and I think it would be a ton of fun here. Basically one team would be the "hunters" and the others would be the "hiders" the goal in jailbreak is for the hunters to capture the hiders by destroying them, after a mech is destroyed that player is "imprisoned" within the hunters jail. However, if a hider can successfully infiltrate the hunters base or jail then all the captured hiders are released and the cycle continues until all are captured, then the teams switch. It may be necessary for the hider team to be limited to medium and light mechs for the best effect.

I think this would be awesome given that all mechs would be useful, it should only require slight modification of existing maps, and teamwork heavy.

Hope you like it :o this game will almost surely include lots of action, no well defined battle lines, and it fits perfectly within MWO's system of mech/pilot customization (modules for hunting and hiding).

I put this in the "suggest a game mode" topic but wanted to know what other players think.

Best,
Fresh

Interesting idea. Here I thought it would be you having to break out of "jail" in a light 'mech with no weapons or armor, then go all sneaky commando-like and avoid the "guards", the Assaults.

Honestly, the more modes the merrier in my opinion as long as they each bring something unique to the table. I like this Jailbreak idea. Sounds a bit like "man hunt" we used to play in Boy Scouts.

umm.. ok.. i know you're try'n to thow ideas out there.. and by all means... go for it... but.... "Hide & Seek?" ... seriously?... cause honestly what you posted sounds like TAG Hide & Seek. .. and yes.. I too played that as a kid. (i think we all have)

Personally.. i like Oswin's idea better... that sounds more like a "Jail-Break" kinda of thing,

Wasnt that a mission in MW2: Mercs, escaping the clans or what ever.

Also, yeah, this would be a hard game type to pull off, There is no advantage of one side or the other so it would end up just like all the regular game types. A battle.

Yes, you had to escape in a hovercraft (Savannah Master?).

I would personally like to see a different twist on this mission.

A mission where team A has to guard a POW camp whereas Team B has to stop them.
Alternately, a number of prisoners could have stolen a variety of vehicles and team B has to save as many of them as possible.

It could work... Mech size is unimportant..

Rather than "Jailbreak (Good Song! AC/DC)" its like a "breach" mission, with a few little exceptions.
Breach is dropped behind enemy lines your lance must survive from point A (map corner) complete a strike near point B (near opposite corner) and then reach "C" to escape. This must be done in X time.
The target is soft so the strike doesn't require orbiting a point for ran hour shooting a rock.

The game is about evasion and interception, awesome for lights and mediums.
The trick is the defenders have numbers but have to defend a large area.
The strike point is known to both groups, the entry and exit points are not (random).

Good elements heavy fog/rain/sandstorm (dare I say solar flare.. Kills radar and sensors)
Good terrain, City/Heavy woods/ Rolling hills/Mountains/Canyons
Note.. you'd need a big ole map.

I'm all for imaginative game modes, but I think I'd prefer to see them fit into the lore. Battletech is about military operations, not games or sports. The idea reminds me of the "mech sports" stuff that went on at MWL, where they played CTF with mechs, and even had maps where they raced round and round on a circuit for X number of laps like a Grand Prix / Indy Car race*. Not for me.

True, but I'm still pushing for Battlemech Chess as an optional mode. That MOST DEFINITELY is part of the lore. :o

Then you get hte problem of that one guy who brings something big slow and just fights his way through it all, and he always brings friends or screws the team over. either or.

A human decision by a player... by choice, crap leadership or lack of experience.
Did I miss something or can't that happen in any game mode?

hmm could be turned to a kind of "rescue the VIP" style.

i remember the VIP maps in Counterstrike where one random player was the vip and your CTs had to bring him out without letting the Ts kill him.

this could even be done with mixed mech classes. the big guys could cover you, or distract/hold off the big enemies while you escort that damaged Urbanmech VIP out of the battlezone :o
