Can AMS shoot down incoming SSRMs? I haven't been able to find anything conclusive on how the game handles this interaction. Anyone know off hand or have a reference?

Thanks

AMS shoots at SRM's. I think it shoots at SSRM aswell, but not at direct close range.

Yes - when the range is not to close.

Yes AMS can shoot at SSRM but it's hard to hit them... ^^

AMS will engage SRMS and SSRMS but is less effective than at stopping LRMs, since with an LRM the AMS has longer to engage the target. SRMS spend a lot less time in flight, and so there's a much smaller window in which the AMS can engage them.

between 100-150m range 1 ams will shot down 2-3 ssrm rockets ( if your not moving )

jenner + ams vs my ssrm commando = hard work !

because of the range and the speed of the rockets ( they are faster as lrm´s ) 1 ams isnt that good..

bc of that i try to put 2x ams ( 1 ton ammo ) into my jenner.. but couldnt try it so far.. since i dont have the cbills right now.

Generally I've found at point-blank, AMS will take out one of two SSRMs. If 2xSSRM is fired, only one gets taken out. Rear shots almost always get through 100% at point blank.

At longer ranges (200m to max), both get taken out from an SSRM shot. If 2xSSRMs are fired, two are destroyed and two get through.

So, calculating, it generally is able to cope with 1 missile per 100m, as a general rule of thumb, when you are facing the launcher.

Unless something was changed, Only the Atlas K can mount 2 AMS.

I see that more of a statement of intent, and sorry for the reason Vorg stated above, this isn't going to work.

For the reasons stated above, when facing AMS, missiles tend to be more effective in large volleys, provided they would hit without AMS's interference.

A small tip for you guys without AMS....stay near a guy who has it :D
It will cover you partly. a group of 4 mechs with full AMS is hard to tackle with just a few launchers.

What does this have to do with the topic?

Anyway, nice info. Did not know how useful an AMS is regarding SRM and SSRM.

[REDACTED] just heat suicided in my team in an Awesome. Also he's been posting the exact same pointless comment to 5 different topics. Hope they ban this guy and everyone like him forever.

Edit: He's also liked all of those posts of him to get positive rep.
Edit2: Reported this guy, hope something gets done.
