Well, canonically FF is a lot easier to produce than ES. It's a pity that things as this can't/won't be considered in MWO. Cost is a factor, but doesn't hinder you in reality. Just takes a few games (if at all) more to install ES than FF. There should be something like Technology Points or whatever, so you can't just put the most expensive and rare items on every mech.

Get a life. Going strictly by the information given in game (hint: hardly any), the question was a reasonable one. Badgering people on the forums is just silly.

So with repair costs not gone, is Ferro Fibrous still useless? I thought it added more armor, but this does not seem to be the case. My Raven 3L came with Ferro Fibrous and I can change it to Endo-Steel, but I would like to know if I should before I spend 430,000 CB.

I have Ferro Fibrous on my Hunchback, based on what I've read here I should change to Endo-Steel. Is that right?

FF does not give more protection - it weights less!

That is bcs the Armor limit on a Mech is not weight but protection.
If your Mech can fit 500 points of armor FF still will only give you 500 points of armor but that 500 points weight 12% less than the 500 points standard armor.

I use ES on every Mech from Light to Assault and on my CN9-AL i use also FF freeing up 1.1 tons
more bcs i had room and can fit one more DHS doing so (and 2 more points of leg armor^^).

Out of the 17 mechs I own I have one that has FF, I needed the weight more than the space, and its aDragon of all things.

Meh, I am a summer player and now that I got my hands on Flame I have to say that putting endo-steel is worthless on him, but FF really makes a difference.
So now my flame is running: 3 ml, 1 erll, 1 smr6, 1 ac2 and ams (+1 case for the ammo), double heat sinks (about 6 external) and FF. I kill with this thing like a mad honco !!!!!!!!!

I posted elsewhere but since this topic is here may as well ask here: I've never used FF in MWO but does it use up 14 criticals in the same way as endo? According to mwo wiki it uses up 14.. but are those in fixed places around the mech? Or dynamic? Or doesn't take up criticals?

How is it distributed basically...
