New user, just downloaded and installed the client, need to patch, Ok...

started at patch 1/38
when it finished client closed
re-opened client and started with patch 1/37
now i'm stuck at patch 1/35
Prepares patch fine
Patching fine (i'm guessing cause it then goes to:)
Finalizing patch
then client shuts down
reopen client and back at patch 1/35
tried again, same result, tried a couple more times so I could get the above information exact and still not getting anywhere
during patch 1/35, however, the status bar never gets enough orange to go beyond the letter "A" in "PATCH 1/35"

Ok so all you need to do is ignore the patch number, assume that it works, just keep on patching and eventually it will finish, it jumped from 1/35 to 1/33 and then it skipped a few more and then it did the rest all at once, it seems to me that the patch number doesn't change as it should leaving us to believe that nothing is happening when really it is doing the patching, so, just keep on patching and you will see
Now I'm having DirectX issues and I can't install DirectX9.0c no matter which way I approach it it seems

This issue happens to me as well. Patching is really really slow! Way to slow to be considered a normal patch. I have been patching for the last 1 hour and the patch progress bar couldn't even increase. It remains at 1/37. Patch file size was around 1038MB and I am pretty sure once it hits 1038MB there would be another round of patching bar to complete. I am playing the game from Singapore, running on a fibre Broadband 100Mbps internet connection. Firewall was disabled to no avail.

Anyone with a clue would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If in Window's 7, have you tried running in as an Administrator?

For those that don't know you just right click on the install file and select the "Run As Admin" option at the top of the menu. May sound simple but it fixed my friends problem.

Try what Rattle suggested. Also, check to make sure you've got plenty of free disk space. Also, some of the patches take quite a qhile to unpack and apply, even if you're running an SSD.

Thanks guys for all the help. I finally managed to play the open beta of the game. Basically it's all about being patient as you are patching. It was a little faster yesterday when I patched the game again and finally it paid off.

The 1/37 patch bar must really be completed. The first of the 37 progress has a size of 1038MB which must be cleared. This, I thought, consumed the most amount of time. Just be patient. and it will eventually reached 1038MB. Subsequent patch progress has lesser file size. Good luck guys and see you in the game.

Sidetrack query : There are only 4 trial mechs in the open beta right now. Would we be getting more mechs later on?

The problem with the patcher is it does not refresh its progress text written on the progress bar.
Minimize/restore refreshes the text (and downloaded/remained MB label) and then you can see real state of the patch. Looks like a bug.
