When you start thinking about it that way...

...the game suddenly becomes AWESOME.

CLANS / PRE-MADE

> Superior Weaponry
> Superior Tactics
> Come outta NOWHERE

I.S / PUBS

> Inferior Weaponry
> Inferior Tactics
> Completely SCREWED

And before you start hatin'...

Except the Clans deliberately avoid group tactics...

In fact, that's what won the war for the I.S. (eventually):

inferior weaponry with superior tactics.

When the Clans found there way into MW:O the rage will be incredible! I'm sure!!!

Doesn't matter how PGI will bring them into the game.
Possibility A:
The Clans are as strong as in the books>No one will play IS
The Clans get "balanced" (let's say 50/50 when matches are 12 vs 10)> Rage quitting all over the place, because of "mymadcatgotstompedbyanatlaswhine"
When the Invasion starts, I will not look into the forum for at least 3 month!

True, true definitely!

But isn't this first contact? Coming straight off the Open Beta? The new influx of players suddenly blindsided by a superior force?

All us PUGs are like... WTF. OUR TRIAL MECHS SUCK COMPARED TO THIS FOUNDER TECHNOLOGY!

...So then maybe that Pug Rebellion Thread is on to something. O_O

This is exactly how they should balance clan tech. Let ONLY pugs drop with clan tech - and ONLY against full Premade IS groups.

Whoever calls a Timberwolf "Madcat" shouldn't play clan anyway.

But yeah, it's going to be bitchfest 2000. I really hope clanmechs will be so absurdly expensive that no PUG noob could afford the repair. Who doesn't play in a group doesn't deserve a nice 'Mech.

Unless their opponents used Dezgra tactics. WIll PUGs accept a request to fight in a circle of equals? Did the Inner Sphere? Do you remember Turtle Bay?
The OP said they are LIKE the Clans to PUGs and he is correct. I made that same connection when I was PUGging. I also likened it to a Planetary Militia training vs the Wolf's Dragoons, Kell Hounds or Eridani Light Horse. You fight against forces better than you so you can improve your tactics and fighting skills. If you get knocked down you get up and do it again until you don't get knocked down any more.

HAHA! Actually, that's so crazy an idea it might work. PUGs (Like myself) will only be too happy to try out new toys, while Veteran Pre-Mades rely on their superior skills to destroy us!

It'll be matchmaking GREATNESS!

The problem with your thinking is this... (This is assuming ANYTHING like what we know) the Clan economy at the start of the invasion is a machine... mechs are provided to true born, they don't pay for them. How will the clan economy look? Cbills? Honor Points?

Its different entirely.. so PGI better magic up something in a hurry.

Maybe they'll even be a PUG inspired COMSTAR that'll help PUGs rise from the ashes!

It would be the most EPIC META-GAME EVER.

Completely valid point. Although I don't mind Clanners adopting the very same economy; it would be more loyal to the universe if they didn't.

Weren't all the MW sims I.S centered save for the MW2? And MW2 didn't have a monetary system did it?

Well, I will never be a Claner so I can call it MadCat or just scrap metal! B)

The thing with the repair bill.... well, "flame on", because then we have to listen to the P2W whiners! ;)

Very good point!
They will have to get better at implementing stuff or it's going to be a total mess. Since the last desastrous patch I'm not so sure anymore if we're going to get any decend system timely.

There will be whining no matter what PGI does. It's the currency of the internet.

To me this thread suggests PuGgers should be given vastly superior, clan-tech mechs instead of the cruddy trials (although I am quite a fan of the Centurion).

This is a really cool idea guys and would help bring some much needed fictional flavour to this game. Allow the 8 man premades to fight PUGs again in a special mode where the PUG players use Clan mechs and the 8 man premades are restricted to I.S. tech. Would bring some balance to the contest. Before Tukayyid, Clan warriors would almost always pick one opponent and duel him to destruction, which is how a lot of PUGers play, versus the dishourable but effective coordinated focus fire and mass artillery/LRM spamming of the Inner Sphere/premades.

Please do this PGI, it would be CLAN-A-RIFIC.

P.S. Disable team text chat too - the lone wolf Clan PUG players would be completely cut off communication wise from each other to help simulate their individual combat style of warfare. Maybe keep the all text chat so they could still issue challenges and the Premades could try to bait them into walking into traps.

Also, change the XP system - Clanners get negative XP for an assist. :)

No reason they have to do anything soon, as the Clans should not be playable in the game for at least a year or two. They have plenty of time to figure out how the Clan economy works once they have the Inner Sphere economy and strategic game going well, as those are the real game in MWO.

All the OP was suggesting is that you can look at how premades wiped out any PUGs they encountered as though the matches were Clan vrs Inner Sphere, and optionally to view play as though that were the case. If you are an I.S. diehard, only play as part of a PUG, and a diehard Clanner, only if you can be part of a full premade.

Of course, we all know that, once/if Clantech is introduced into the game, none of the 'Clan' pilots will ever follow what they say they will, as all they will be playing Clan for is the advantages the tech gives them (any who say otherwise are simply trying to get their tech crutch faster). The results will no doubt be similar to what the introduction of Premades into the game did to it, and no spotting of numbers will change that.

Just make pug teams larger then premade teams... like 10v8 that would be fun

Also.. Mad Dog ftw (Until later today when the pulse laser nerf comes)

For even more free kills and salvage? I'm OK with that.

I will laugh so hard when the Trial clan mech is an Urbanmech IIC

Then I'd play it :)
