So, by now if you haven't seen posts with people fighting over whether feature X is canon, or feature Y should operate this way because it's the canon way to do it, you are either new here or you have been hiding under a rock.

This poll is intended to determine the general level of canon familiarity among the forum crowd. Since so many threads devolve into "Canon!" vs. "Not Canon!" shouting matches, I thought we should know how familiar everyone is with canon.

If without the Sarna, i just passed my history 101. However I am more familiar with Mercenaries rather than Houses.
So I always had a soft spot for small but heavily armed Merc companies like the Black Thorns and Avanti's Angels :)

Marcus GioAvanti and the Angels are my favorite mercs. I still love the Archangel refit for my Caesar. Although the canon maintenance mod of +4 is awful.

I would preferred it if he drop his extra med pulse laser for another 2 tons of armor, given that the Caesar armor is a little thin for a "Clanbuster" Mech.

I always drop IS pulse lasers like hot rocks anyway. When I do Archangel it has ER mediums in place of the pulses and put the freed tonnage into armor and heatsink. The ammo gets moved to the right torso with the GR, the rear firing IS MPLas get pulled, a pair of forward firing IS ER MLas go in head and CT with an extra DHS going in the LT and the remaining ton going to armor. If I have more Clan MPLas lying around I pulse both IS MPLas and put the extra clan MPLas in the CT while still moving the ammo and adding the DHS and armor.

Honestly as much as I like the BT universe there are large tracts of lore that need to be rewritten.

Tokasha, eh? Mongoose founded it. Ghost Bear, Goliath Scorpion and Jade Falcons rule it now. Hell's Horses will take it. Stone Lion's will rise from the ashes there. Which are you?

That wasn't the question though. After this one has had time to simmer I plan to launch a pretty major poll about each time period, eventually. I know the Jihad will get some serious canon hate. The Wars of Reaving will also irritate people.

not a big canon-junkie, I own a half dozen of the novels and most of the other history I picked up through playing in NBT, people discuss the canon and you learn bits and pieces by osmosis. :)

Eh, I know enough, I suppose.

The Jihad was already planned to happen way back in 1992 (and before, since it was hinted at in a sourcebook from 1992).

You must have sigs turned off, or it would be pretty clear which Clan I call family. I was more purposing you make an additional poll answer. As I know more lore of the Clans than I do of the Inner Sphere. I have read the 1980s House Books but that is all so far.

I belong to the ower half of educated citizens. :)

Good enough to understand what people talk about and tell my opinio, but at least I do not have to know about all those contradictions there are in books (at least Liao vs. Davion ones). :P

Everything I learned about Battletech I learned from the House Liao sourcebook.

All I really know is people spread out, started fighting each other, stopped fighting each other, some guy died, they started fighting each other again, other people decided "screw you guys, we're outta here, but we'll be back", the fighting continues, the "screw you" guys come back, and there's more fighting. Much of the fighting involves giant stompy robots.

I tried the read the books. And they just didn`t grab me. Now, my 1st real book was Shogun. by James Clavell. I was 11 when I read it. THAT book was awesome. Had James Clavell wrote the Mechwarrior books, I`d have read them. ;p

Anything anyone would ever want to, or should know, for whatever reason, is but a few typed letters and a couple of clicks away. We live in the Information age ffs.

Thus, if someone wants to know, it can be known with relative ease. If someone wishes to remain ignorant of any topic, for any reason, then I say it is their loss really.

That is why Ignorance of the Law is not a Defense. :)

P.S. I took History 201 (just in case MW the Game ever came back) yeeehaaaaw...

Just keep the shipping lanes open and the PPC bores hot, and we are golden.
