Seriously, I figured this would be a simple fix. But 4 patches later no fix.
When chatting, if your view is switched to another view, the chatbox disappears but you're still typing... All of what you've typed since the switch ends up being sent to ALL.
REALLY annoying. Anytime the view changes I have to hit backspace a lot, then enter, then Y again to start typing everything all over again.

I've had similar events happen while I was still alive.
Look down and press Y and type a strategy, hit enter and *poof* its sent to All chat with the first 3 letters of the first word missing.

seriously this is a terrible in game chat, with no history or scrollback among other issues, and no general chat? whats the idea behind that? has anyone ever mentioned why there is no general lobby chat?

I don't think it's been a priority at all for recent patches, so no work focused on it.
Something that may help: If you do notice that your view has been switched, you can use escape to hop to the menus screen and thereby close the glitched chat box (without backspacing). Also, if you notice the person you're viewing is about to die and you've already typed a lot, you can quickly select it all with Shift+Home so you can Cut it. Then, after escaping out, you can Paste it back in to team chat.

yeah why would you want proper chat in a team based game when you could have cool hero mechs for real money. I am not spending a dime until they fix this and many other game play issues. And FFs put some detailed stats on items in the mech bay.

Yeah... I've actually spent a lot of money on this game already. Honestly, the latest changes have made me not really like the game much anymore. The new mech lab, the higher cost of things, the inability to buy CBills directly, hit boxes still seem crappy, and not being able to try out different upgrade configurations before committing them. But the chat box is by far the most annoying of them all.
