This may come as a shock to you, but some of us are capable of independent, detached evaluation of play and balance.

I am a pretty good pilot. I can run just about any mech well (not great but well). I can fight in LRM's, in Streaks, in laser mechs, in combined arms mechs, short range, long range, scouting, etc.

And I think some balance issue are outstanding in the game.
I think PPC's are below par.
I think ERLL are below par (in spite of the fact that one of my favorite builds right now is the 2 ERLL/1 LL Ctatpult)

etc

None of these is a huge deal. But changes SHOULD be made for balance.

As we are in beta people will find a way to complain pretty much about any new item that comes in the game. PGI can only do so much testing from their "Test server" and they need the community to test the issue and give feedback.

Do I think people could be a bit more constructive with their "Criticism" yes but I think that's asking to much sometimes.

I typically run mixed-weapon configs of say... an AC, Lasers and SRMs (not streaks) and do well with them. I kill plenty of people 1on1 when I have the opportunity.

I also think streaks, LRMs and Gauss are noob weapons. They are. They're far to effective and "easy" to kill things with.

However, Koreanese, if you disagree and still think I'm not good at the game--I call you out right now to a duel (pending the addition of the feature that allows this). I challenge you to 1on1 combat with the following restrictions:
C1 weapons (energy), Autocannons and SRMs only. No LRMs, no Guass, no Streaks.

Lets do it. I will enjoy our fight. May it be honorable when the developers permit such a contest of wits.

If you're good at the game, why do you want to restrict the weapon choices for your duel? Shouldn't the point be for you to use the supposedly OP weapons to defeat him, and he uses the non-OP weapons to defeat you?

Gauss is simply better than the PPC, it's been proven mathematically. Which in turn is better than the ER PPC.

So if I understand this right, the OP is willing to face my Dragon with a Dragon/Catapult armed with only PPCs and AC10s?

The quesiton here is whether those weapons are not balanced. So the obvious answer is to eliminate them from the choices. It is up to Koreanese to prove his argument that weapons balancing is not needed, not the other way around.

If Koreanese is as good as he implies, he should be able to win with any weapon.

A better challenge would be best of three. One where you both use the weapons you mentioned, another where you both use the suggested OP weapons, and a third match where each participant used their weapons of choice.
