Pink was once considered a very manly color, by the way - like red, it was thought to be an agressive and powerful color which would reflect the manly virtues of competition and violent action.
Blue, which is now considered a masculine color, was once thought to be a feminine one, as it was seen as submissive and calming.

Ironic that they now use bubblegum pink in drunk tanks because it's been proven to help calm the poor louts the most.
