I have been a Centurion pilot for quite awhile now, and I'm a little annoyed at the variant costs with the VLW and CNL-D.

As you all know, we need to have 3 mechs to unlock the pilot tiers as we progress. Since the last wipe we lost one CNL model, which was replaced with the YWL and it's MC exclusive pricing (whole other arguement... not getting into it.). IMO the Wang is a POS and not worth the investment. So that leave only one option, the brand new, as promised, souped up tech CNL-D.... for 8,000,000+ C-Bills, or 3000+ MC ?!?1

Ok, I get it... Endo steel... Artemis... XL engine (boo.)... but that much money, with no other options? Why lose the CN9-AH (rhetoric... YLW, I know...), and force the issue...

So now we have a Medium mech variant at Heavy (even Assault) pricing, that doesnt perform as such... not liking the way the economy is going at this rate....

Yea... people are annoyed with the loss of that variant.
I would prefer to see it come back too.

It is what it is.
Hopefully, we will get a few more variants down the line.

XL engine alone costs more than the other centurions. Jenners suffer the same thing. To elite theirs they have to buy an expensive variant as well. For the price, the variant is actually a pretty good steal.

My tricked-out Commando COM-1B cost me 6.8 million.

Tier II tech is expensive.

It's using extremely expensive tech.

It has Artemis, an XL 300 among other significant upgrades. I knew it wasn't going to be cheap. It's basically similar to the Cicada 3M variant.

Or take the XL300 and shove it into a different mech, or hell, keep using it.

Ya, we've all upgraded our mechs, many times over. Just seems there steering the economy in a bad direction. $8,000,000 for a Medium, fresh off the line. Pretty steep no matter which way you look at it.

No it is not. You'd pay more by buying a cheaper cent and trying to trick it out like the D. What they have is logical pricing based on teh tech within the variant. the D is not the only one that has a rather large price hike.

Yeah, I am baffled by all the confusion over the D's price tag. Look at the CDA-3M or the RVN-3L. Same situation. I think if the D were priced at 7,900,000 C-bills, there'd be no complaining. It's that intimidating 8 million mark.

Theres a few other mech's that have variants like the CNL. Thing is, people seem to not understand that it comes stock with upgrades. Thats where the cost is coming from. My little jenner cost me around 9 mil+ just in the engine/upgrades.

Price is steep but well worth it. XL 300 and Endosteel already encompass upgrades I would consider making to an -A anyway.

I miss having the 300 XL in a CN9-AL, but this is good. And if I was feeling particularly insane, it could go up to a 390 rated engine.

It's not the price tag the OP is really disputing. It's the fact that there's no cheaper option to finish that tree off. Bringing the AH back solves that entirely (and makes quite a few people happy)

So it is like the jenner then? I see no issue here. Though they should bring the AH back, for the entirely different reason of adding variety.

Like the Jenner?
The Jenner had 2 free variants during CB and then 3 after OB.
If that what you were referencing?

One of the jenner variants is more expensive than the others.

To be fair we've only had a week to grind cbills, so if you're already trying to get the last mech you need to unlock the elite trees I can't really see this still being an issue in five or six months when they roll out community warfare. Everybody needs something to grind for.

I understand and I'm not arguing either side of this one. I was just trying to clarify what I think the OP was getting at.
The AH should be brought back for various reasons but that's another topic for another thread.
