Regarding this:

  • LRM’s will no longer behave incorrectly (spin wildly) when fired at corners of objects at close range
Direct fire weapons have the same issue, if your crosshairs are too close to a physical object despite firing at a far one, the weapons shoot off in random directions. I'm stuck at work so have no idea if you're already fixed this as well today, but was occuring last night prior to the patch.

I think I know what Strad is talking about. I have seen it using dual ACs on opposite side of a mech. What I believe happens is that if you are close to a obstacle, and have your crosshairs close enough to the edge of that obstacle, they will use the range to the obstacle to judge where the shots should converge. This causes the two AC rounds to cross at extremely close range and then shoot off at a extreme angle.

I think this is somewhat working as intended, since you really do want your shots to converge, but sometimes it seems that the game will grab and use the range to the obstacle even when you are not pointing directly at it.

I have no idea how aiming really works, but in layman's terms I think we are asking for someone to take a look at tightening up the area under the crosshair that is used to determine the range to your target.

I've had this happen with my Gauss Rifle at extreme ranges. It will often shoot at a left angle out of the barrel, maybe 10-15 degrees. Only in my Hunchback though. You can test it on Frozen City having a mech in the depression in E5 and another mech at the capture point. Move back and forth as if you're moving in and out of cover.

I've had this happen with my arm mounted gauss rifle in my centurion.Happened when I was standing next to a building with the right half of my mech peeking out.Took a shot at at enemy a few hundred meters away and the shot went wildly off at an up and left angle into the sky.I assume it was because my crosshair was close to the buildings edge, even though it was clearly over the enemy mech. This wouldn't be a problem as often if the weapons just converged at the distance to your selected target instead of your crosshar.Wouldn't help when you don't have a target selected of course, but would immensely improve the problem with leading ballistics when you do have someone targeted.
