Sounds as though something is blocking access to the internet for those programs.

What firewall service do you use, or router?

Have you tried running the games as administrator via right clicking the shortcut?

Hi,i think firewall is not the problem all programs run good, but i dont understand why mwo game and others cant update, can be a malware program like spy bots? i have problems with windows update too but i repaired changing two settings and using with symbol system (msdos) the command sfc /scannow,later runs good but the games no update, sorry i talk too much.Im going to revise firewall and download spy bots again and see if this is the program that blocks updates. If this does not work im going to microsoft page.I dont know what problems have in my computer,i would like play mwo today if i can!!

Nope, DV is right; this sounds like a firewall problem. It doesn't matter if programs run, since a firewall won't stop a program from running, but will instead just stop them from having network access. I doubt it's a hardware firewall issue from, say, a router (unless you're just running with all kinds of unnecessary closed ports), so that leaves software as the most likely culprit.

Turn off Windows Firewall, and turn off any other firewall you're running, then try running the update again. If you've confirmed that that's not your issue then we'll revisit the problem.

Hi I have the theme Problem without the Download . The Answer from GM was: "If you use internet explorer, open your internet browser; click on "options", click on the "advanced" tab, then "reset" at the bottom, then answer "yes" to the question asked. It has fixed the problem for several users. Let us know if it worked for you as well."

It Helps and i can now Play :) thanks Support

Im not even going to attempt to begin to understand what type of system they use, that depends on Internet Explorer settings.

More online games are coming out that utilizes IE files by hooking into them for patching purposes. Basically, why reinvent the wheel. And it can be as simple as resetting back to default IE settings. Usually though a program modifies the connection by making a change to the proxy settings, other times IE security settings were set extremely high.

Even if the user runs Firefox or Chrome, it is the IE settings that need to be reviewed.
