When can we expect to see a semblance of balance to weapons in game, a few examples to show the current situation.

Gauss, 15 alpha, max dps 3.75, max rng 1980 slots 7, weight 15 HS to neg heat 2

Ac 20, 20 alpha, max dps 5, max rng 810 slots 10, weight 14 HS to neg heat 14

large laser, 9 alpha, max dps 2.2, max rng 900 slots 2, weight 5 HS to neg heat 13

Srm 6, 15 alpha, max dps 3.75, max rng 270 slots 2, weight 3 HS to neg heat 8

lrm 20, 40 alpha, max dps 8.42, max rng 1000 slots 5, weight 10 HS to neg heat 10

PPC, 10 alpha, max dps 3.3, max rng 1080 slots 3, weight 7 HS to neg heat 24

Seriously, where the hell is the rationale?

It’s not based on heat efficiency, one of the weakest weapons in the list, the PPC requires more heat sinks than any other, 10 more than its nearest rival the AC 20, but is the second lowest sustained dps and alpha. It’s not based on weight or slots, LRM 20 have the highest alpha and sustained dps, yet are easier to fit than Gauss and Ac 20, and more heat efficient than PPC, large laser and AC 20.

It’s clearly not based on range, srm 6 and Gauss have the same alpha and sustained dmg as each other, yet are at opposite ends of the range scale. And it is clearly not based on damage or sustained dps, lrm 20, the best of the lot, not the hardest to fit, or the least heat efficient. Nor is it based on the skill required to use, line of sight, lock times, weapon cycle, cool down, ammo requirements, or hard point availability.

Current balance makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, it’s all over the place, so just what metric are you using to balance? Do Piranha just roll the dice, or pick a number from a hat, what? Don’t dare suggest TT as that went out the window months ago. Balance is so arbitrary right now, it’s a complete farce.

***EDIT***
Will you please sort the editor on the forums, it just completely butchered the formatting I had done to make the weapon list more readable.

They started with TT damage and heat values, then arbitrarily adjusted firing speeds without making any adjustments to the base damage or heat, resulting in a hilarious disconnect between TableTop balance and MechWarrior: Online balance that they don't seem to understand how to fix.

Simple fix would've been divide the base damage and heat by the adjusted firing speed, then adjust from there. That way we started reasonably balanced and move from there... Instead we start hilariously and wildly imbalanced and gradually tweak.
