I´m disagree with that. There's life in the old dog yet. ^_^
The BJ looks like a decent sniper who can use cover very well. Small hitbox, weapon on arms are very high. Good hardpoints and Jumpjets!

Armor and speed are not that important as everyone predict!

I see it's value becoming more noticeable when teams have weight restrictions.

This and only this. But as long I'm able to kill a Hunchback in 4sec cause they are thrown against Atlas and Stalker Mechs...the BJ will have hardly a chance.

I start to love that design after i was forced to use one in a szenario. Some years ago.

Do want! More Mechs, More Maps more everything. I like the Design so far, Mechlab makes it possible to build something useful...

I've been thinking about possible builds for the Blackjack. One limitation I don't like is the slow speed for a mech that size.

Been thinking in the mechlab (using a 50ton mech as a placeholder). Seems like you could fit a max XL engine on this thing (85kph+speed tweak, not bad), a gauss with 4t, 4 med, 12DHS, max armor except 35 on the legs (I wonder if you could potentially risk stripping some from the head), and 4 JJs. Not sure on the max # of JJ's possible. You could fit 5JJ by downgrading the 235 to a 225.

I think it could work. (Relatively) fast and maneurable (esp with JJ) sniper (esp with high arms), with good self-defense potential with 4medlas.

I'm not sure how viable it is without XL, though.

Sounds interesting, might give a give a variation of this a go, 2 MPL torso mounted instaed of the 4 ML.

I don't think so. Mount a Gauss on it, and you get a Jump Sniper with a much thinner profile than the Cataphract Pop-Tart.
It should even be possible to mount a Gauss and a PPC into it, if you don't need max Speed. Voila, 25 point Alpha, difficult-to-hit poptart.

Yeah, but another PopTart tin can? Do we need this? I am not sure...^^ Think therell be more ways to build something useful from it, maybe AC 20 + LPL or sth. ;)

The prototype version of the was designed to carry Flame, but were replaced with two light autocannons in the production version of the 'Mech. In long range engagements, the Blackjack has lackluster performance. Where the 'Mech excels is in close quarters combat because its short ranged weapons, jumping distance of up to one hundred and twenty meters, and heavy armor make it a devastating street fighter.

Welp! Since the Flea has MASC and they haven't figured out how to do it, the BJ comes next!

It'd be funny if when it comes out, they suddenly fix LRMs and so we start seeing BJs falling from the sky after a jump snipe, destroyed by missiles.

Ballistic meds are crap, even with JJs. I have all Trebs, I know that.

Our ballistics are just too heavy for them to make a decent build, or any build that is better than anything we already have.

I'm usually no one who talks bad about a mech, that isnt out yet but 2 ballistics as mains on a medium....not gonna work.

This ballistic medium Trollbuchet seems to do okay, and it's packing machine guns.


AC/2 and machine gun. Wang.


Gauss and MG. Wang. My favorite shot ever is in here, and this is pre-HSR.

We cappies sorted this out with BJ-3... PPCs in arms instead of AC/2. :P

If it can hold energy in the arms, then ok, fine with me. At least better than 2 AC/2s.
But still has to show what it can offer against a Treb with JJs.

Can it jump higher?
