I also intended to spend $30 on World of Tanks, but they expect to gouge you for $70 bare minimum if you intend to get a tank that would actually be capable of financing your gameplay once you get above Tier 5...

I'll default to commit $50 to give it a chance.

I know I'll spend some money, but it'll change and depend on what I can get, how hard it is to get that and so on.

If MWO is a properly setup F2P (along the lines of LoL) I'll throw down 20$ on it once, and sit on that money until they have skin-sales. In F2P games, I don't spend real money on stuff I can earn with in-game currency, only on aesthetics stuff.

I don't think so. I still play MW4 Mercs and have a lot of fun with it. From what I've seen MWO will be at least on par with MW4 if not much better. Therefor I intend to spend a minimum of $60 per account (my wife wants to play too so we'll be spending $120 together) to support PGI and encourage further development on MWO. I don't really care what PGI offers me in terms of their online store as I see my payment as a contribution/investment for the project as a whole.
It's true that we've seen very little of MWO so far but what I've seen has convinced me that I will be playing this game for several years. The more I invest in it the longer PGI will continue to develop and support the game I will be getting most of my entertainment from. This is why I have such high hopes for the Free To Play model. I would like to see the entire gaming industry adapt and refine the F2P system.

I would spend 10 to 15 a month for a premium account based on the videos and talk of what the game will be like. However that is only after we see how the open beta works out and if the game is worth the time.
I love playing Battletech and have since mid 80s when battletech cresent hawks came out for the commodore 128 system.
