I think I'll spend up to 50 bucks for substantial, permanent benefits in-game. I intended to spend the $30 necessary to start playing the game + perma-VIP in Tribes Ascend, but then I got a beta key from their other promotions anyway and the VIP thing turned out to be possible with just spending any money on the game (so I spent $8 on a week of Boost and went on my way).

I also intended to spend $30 on World of Tanks, but they expect to gouge you for $70 bare minimum if you intend to get a tank that would actually be capable of financing your gameplay once you get above Tier 5...

Initially I will invest about 100-150 then after that about 30 to 50 bucks a month provided that there are things I will use, like exp boosters, faction boosters and such in the store. My time is far more limited than my money is and I have been waiting 10+ years for a worthy MW Title and do not think that I will be at all disapointed. I have already dropped my Wow subscription and will more than likely quit SWtOR when I can climb into my Dragon, so thats 30 bucks a month right there.

Thanks to the IRS refund.. I'd go into the 100$ range IF the game is worth it.
I'll default to commit $50 to give it a chance.

It entirely matters. If the gameplay is good, then sure, I might be able to scrap in a few bucks, here and there. If the game goes into the usual "PAY TO WIN" situation that most free-to-plays go, then I will just drop it entirely. I really dislike when games decide that people that CAN manage to pay get to win, seeing as people play these in the first place, because they cannot afford games that cost a lot, or have monthly fees.

I'm equating this to League of Legends. Which is the model I believe MWO will follow pretty closely since it's a hugely successful game with a F2P environment and tons of money being made.

I know I'll spend some money, but it'll change and depend on what I can get, how hard it is to get that and so on.

Well considering, I'm already going to invest several hundred dollars into a Laptop that could run MWO, I'd say I'm pretty willing to sink a decent amount of money into this game. I could never pass up a new Mechwarrior game.

With reasonably priced items, and over the expected lifetime, I can definitely see myself in the $5-10/month club. ($60-120/year) if not more. Starting out, I can expect to have paid a retail game's price in about 3-4 months of play.

Assuming that the wife was on board with it (love you dear:) I would just hand them my bank account info and just buy everything PGI would be willing to sell me! (she's glaring at me. Is that bad?)

If MWO is a P2W mess where you buy power, then I'll drop 0$

If MWO is a properly setup F2P (along the lines of LoL) I'll throw down 20$ on it once, and sit on that money until they have skin-sales. In F2P games, I don't spend real money on stuff I can earn with in-game currency, only on aesthetics stuff.

Too many unknowns to estimate what I will spend. Will have to see what is available.

I would guess I will spend 40-50 the day it comes out, standard game price. If there is a monthly premium that gets you bonus to exp, or salvage or something then I will do that. Basically I have a month to month premium in WoT now, $15 a month and totally worth it imho, and will just stop playing/paying, that when this comes out and transfer that money over to MW:O.

Can't wait.

Isn't it a bit early to tell how much you will spend if you still have no idea for WHAT you may spend it?

I don't think so. I still play MW4 Mercs and have a lot of fun with it. From what I've seen MWO will be at least on par with MW4 if not much better. Therefor I intend to spend a minimum of $60 per account (my wife wants to play too so we'll be spending $120 together) to support PGI and encourage further development on MWO. I don't really care what PGI offers me in terms of their online store as I see my payment as a contribution/investment for the project as a whole.

It's true that we've seen very little of MWO so far but what I've seen has convinced me that I will be playing this game for several years. The more I invest in it the longer PGI will continue to develop and support the game I will be getting most of my entertainment from. This is why I have such high hopes for the Free To Play model. I would like to see the entire gaming industry adapt and refine the F2P system.

I'll probably drop £30 or so on the game when it comes out, even if I just buy random stuff I don't really care about. Just because I don't want to not support the devs for making a game I've been waiting for since 2003. After that initial injection of money, it depends what they have in store over the months that I can justify spending money on. If I do spend money, then it could be that I go for several months without purchasing anything, and then only dropping a few £s when something that catches my eye pops up.

Yes in that there is a budget I operate under, game or not.

Probably somewhere between 10 and 50 bucks. Depends on how long the game keeps me interested really.

I'm going to pay what I think the game is worth. If its not so great, I'll only drop what I feel I'm willing to invest. If it is, I will shower it in money. Sound plan, eh?

Normally I don't get excited about micro-transactions, but I'm so psyched for this game you can bet I'll be throwing down on whatever just to support the developers. I just hope they don't kill it with pay-to-win.

Bring on the extra mech bays, paint, laser colors, cockpit decoration, etc.

Im sure that like most all F2P games there will be a basic mode and a Premium game mode that will give players more xp and c-bills.
I would spend 10 to 15 a month for a premium account based on the videos and talk of what the game will be like. However that is only after we see how the open beta works out and if the game is worth the time.
I love playing Battletech and have since mid 80s when battletech cresent hawks came out for the commodore 128 system.
