I'm just curious, in almost EVERY match I join, at the beginning, at least one or two teammates shoot lasers into the ground, or fire off a barrage of LRMs at nothing, hell, I even see Hunchies firing off an AC/20 round now and then. Sometimes they just fire straigh ahead as the team is deploying and hit friendlies in the bag. Why would anyone bother?

I can't speak for people firing into backs, But often times I will make a new build and at the start of the match I will test max heat on my weapons groups to get a feel for how I am going to handle heat management in the match.

i do it here and there to try and test Heat generation/dissipation. With this being a beta, you want to know how things will react when you get into a battle situation before you actually get into combat. makes life a little easier.

As for hitting other mechs, that's just poor aim or accidental shots imo

I play on a laptop, and the track pad registers taps as mouse clicks. If I brush it while placing my hands on the keyboard, it will fire group one.

I have 2 screen and play windowed while waiting for the game to start i browse internet.

when i selet the game windows if i click inside the screen it shoots

Checking your heat generation. Very important actually, if you switch up your mech or are playing a new map you need to know what kind of heat you need to deal with.

Also, some people don't understand weapon ranges and fire MLs at 900m. And some just don't know what they're doing yet, can't rule that out.

As just about everyone has said Heat Test, but also ensuring weapons groups are working as intended.

I alt+tab out of the game during loading, sometimes when I click back in it fires all my weapons.

It's because people don't ALT+TAB back, they click back.
