I'm heading out to work, so i don't really have time to search the forum, i apologise if this is already out there.
I was wondering what kind of support you are going to have for multi-monitor systems. I would very much appreciate being able to have system status and radar relegated to secondary displays keeping my main screen nice and clear. Or maybe an epic surround option, and given the way the game plays this would look amazing.

Was just wondering about multi-monitor support.

Its not a matter of the game supporting multi display... if you set up multipile monitors for anything, all you get is a bigger screen and a feeling of immersion, you arent gonna see any more on the screens that someone with one monitor.

In one (kinda recent) developer announcement, they did say multiple screens would be supported, how exactly we dont know. From Artemis we can guess one can be set to display radar at least. As a BattleTech SIM I am guessing that we can expect 3 monitors (left viewport, Center, and Right) will be supported. Still waiting on final confirmation from the Devs.

I understand it's possible to do for any game, I meant any specific support. It's all well and good being able to expand your view to 3 monitors, but if the game doesn't support a resolution which is wide enough then it's going to look silly.
In terms of actual in game support, i mean stuff like being able to assign radar exclusively to one monitor, and damage/ammo readouts to another. Not only would this make it easier to see at a glance, it would also look rather good

Exactly that point - there have been a few games like that which supported secondary monitors in that way - Supreme Commander comes to mind. Another example is an ArmA II community mod that assigns the dynamic map to a secondary monitor.
Not everyone has SLI/3 monitors yes, but there are quite a few dual monitor setups.

Given the Artemis setup, I'd be astounded it the game didn't simply use multiple windows.
Multiple windows would let you add any monitor and also use various resolutions for the different windows. The Artemis monitor does not look to be very high resolution.
Note the jagged lines. That is a good clue about resolution. Frankly, this could probably be run through a USB port. I've seen USB video dongles. I'm guessing 640 x 480.
Dear devs, what would be really cool would be a "Ride Along" mode, where another PC could have access to the same position info, and run different POV cameras. That way, this screen, and others, could be run from a secondary cheap PC that's just sitting gathering dust in the back closet. That would save us from having to share polygon rendering power from the video system driving the main display, where higher resolution = better survivability.
Or the second PC could run several low power displays for ammo loads, weapon status, Far radar & close radar, Targeted Mech info, controller states, background playlist, rear view mirror, downward view for unstable terrain and DFA, own mech health, 3rd person view of own mech.
Multiple monitors would also be really great to allow "windows" Turn your own head to see what's beside or behind you. Using the hat switch sucks, because your entire view swings around.
A "Ride Along" mode would also totally rock because it would be a read only mostly duplicate stream from the server (so no real additional processing load) and would allow excellent training sessions for noobs. Just get your company commander to let you "ride along" and you can see what he targets, how he rides the heat curve, and so on. It would also let lots of folks better enjoy an important match.
Also, how about a "ghost" mode, where other folks could simply be invisible, non-bound 3d movable camera points of view, to watch the important matches. Thanks.
