Just curious about the color black in MWO (any game really). I have seen some great colors, shining and good looking, especially contrasting with flat coloring. But I was wondering if there was some sort of coding technical etc..problem with shiny black color. Most black coloring in almost every game has been..subdued...A shiny black mech with some color markings contrast would also show up decals better.

Not a QQ post - just wondering if there was some tech reason for this. Counting on some computer/coding savy posters here.

A black paint job with a sheen to it should be easy to do. Look at any racing game. But do you really want a camo job that turns your mech into a mirror? If there was a solaris map that would rock, but for this I want muddy colors to blend in.

I doubt it's a technical problem so much as a design decision.

The game is brown and gritty. Shining paint jobs just wouldn't fit in so well. Remember the shiny Awesomes?

Very few mech companies painted their units in true camo. Mech paint was often more about allegiance or personal flair.

IE, pepto-bismol-pink camo from MW4.

I could appreciate a black paint with a little gloss...not too much though. The high contrast between the black and the gloss can be a bit disruptive and obtrusive in game...it could look odd, not providing the same asethetics one would expect from real life.

as dark as the game is at the moment especially when on forest colony and even more so when in a brawl,

i would not ecourage them to use any more black .

for when ever i am in a brawl these days that is all i see is freaking black.

Ah...I liked this quote. It reminds me (guiltily) that the idea of a 'glossy' black is probably my ego rather than a more practical in game effect. Well said Nitra!
