Hello all.

I have been away from the game for a bit and was looking to get back in the saddle.

I am looking for a little help getting the joystick up and running.

Can someone point me to the recent threads on this or a little help?

I have a CH Products set up of Fighterstick JS, and Prothrottle.

CH Products has a pretty good emulator program that I am fairly familiar with. I can map game keyboard functions to the various JS and throttle buttons/hat axis.

I need a little help, however, with setting up...

1. JS to do x and y functions of mouse.

JS X ---> torso turn left and right
JS Y ---> torso up and down

2. Throttle function:

Not sure how to get throttle slider to control throttle in game.

The CH Emulator program with regard to the throttle functions has three "options" of use:
1. Emulate a JS axis in game
2. Up/down set up: pushing throttle slider forward sends one key command like "w", back an another command like "s".
3. Position set up: pushing slider forward goes through a sting like 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9, pushing back the opposite.

THX!

Before you invest your time in dialing in all the parameters of the sticks you're going to use, I highly recommend this thread by Loc Nar http://mwomercs.com/...ls-demystified/

He goes over the use of zero-order and first-order devices as controllers. TL;DR, using joysticks [first-order] for things like aiming is often less effective than zero-order [like a mouse, stays where you put it]. Personally I would recommend using your stick as leg and throttle control, as these functions are simply “ON/OFF” like keypresses. You're probably right on the money with using a keymapper, I have not had success getting MWO to recognize any of my controllers, and currently I use joy2key with is another good program, if not somewhat complex.

Ignoring the underlying issue of 'should I' which Spumkmeyer beat me to and getting right to the 'could I'...

Use this emulator for x/y axis and do not bind x/y to the menu in-game. It's recommended to reset the control options on the menu to be sure there are no remnant bindings on these or any other axes. note- the y-axis is overly sensitive compared to the x-axis so scale it back more than the x-axis.

Throttle (and analog turn if you are using it) are *good working analog controls and these should be binded directly in menu>options on the client and are really easy to get working. You also might need to add the following 2 lines to your .cfg file:

cl_joystick_throttle_range = 0 //fwd/x/reverse
cl_joystick_invert_throttle = 1 //fwd=fwd

If you don't have a .cfg file, you need to make one as follows:

1. open C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online
2. in toolbar at top of page click 'new folder'
3. name it: user.cfg and click save
4. add the two lines from above and save changes when you close

Loc Nar: When will the controls be updated to allow the use of chat/scoreboard/battlegrid while using analog throttle?
A: It’s a technical limitation of the engine currently. We’re looking into a way to fix it.
