Hi, I'm looking for a laptop that can run MWO decently (Medium graphics, fps above 30). I have a limited budget around $1000. Can anyone make a good suggestion for me? Thanks!

I can tell you how much I paid for my laptop and the performance of it, so you can compare it with the ones you are going to look into.

My Laptop spec is:
CPU: AMD A8 - 4500M APU with Radeon HD graphics (4CPUs, 1.9ghz each)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7640G + 7670M Dual
Ram: 6GB

I paid 500 euro, which is about 660 US dollar.

I can barely play MWO with this. With the lowest graphic setting possible + twaeking cfg file to lower the graphics level even more. It used to give me performance of about 20FPS ~30FPS before 12 VS 12 patch. After that, it has dropped to 15FPS ~ 25FPS.

I would recommend Intel CPU as it is said to perform better in higher end. RAM wise, you won't need more than 6GB. In fact 4GB should be enough. GPU wise, I would recommend http://www.notebookc...List.844.0.html for your reference. Pick the ones in the Higher End graphic section, then you should be good to go.

Remember, as laptops tend to overheat, depending on the temperature of where you live, you may have rough time running this game properly. Many laptops are designed to shut down if the internal temperature of GPU goes over 90 Celsius degree to protect it from getting trashed from overheating. I used to play it fine when I lived in a colder place, where the temperature was about 15 Celsius degree. After moving to the place with 30 Celsius degree, playing this game with my laptop became close to impossible, as it went shut down after 5 mins of MWO gameplay. (I have to put a fan next to my laptop to prevent it from overheating)

I hope it helped.

My dear lady I believe I have the laptop for you. May I present the NP7330?

Full HD Matte Screen you can use outside for gaming on the go
Quad core i7 CPU
GTX765M
Back lit Keyboard
Decent battery life

Did I mention that it will play mwo on medium @ 30 fps and it weighs just about 2 kilos so it's actually useful as an every day laptop? All for $1040.

Note: I believe that if one's going to spend the extra cash for a laptop it should be mobile enough to use on a daily basis. If you want a 10 pound desktop replacement I'm sure someone else will suggest one with higher specs than my suggestion. Also I do not own one of these because I'm poor but I really want one.

Nice spot. I'm in the market for a new laptop to replace my aging vaio. I love it but it is falling apart. Gonna have to take a look at that. The light weight is certainly appealing. I've been walking three miles a day with the current one and some books and my back has been complaining.

As for the OP, I have been looking at a lennovo Y510p. It has a larger screen and weighs more, but depending on usage that may be what you are looking for. Right now you can score the dual 750m model for $1149. There are a single gpu and 14" models as well for less. Anyways good luck finding you new computer.

Ok first.

do not buy the amd solution. it requires crossfire support to work properly and this game does not have it. you will notice that the previous post said it was barely playable. I have a desktop with a A8 and a 6670, with the duel hybrid gfx setting enabled i was running less than 20 frames on the lowest settings possible. i disabled the hybrid mode and play directly with the 6670 and its 40fps on medium.

the laptop you need is a Dell Alienware M14x. I have the R2 release with the 650 in it, and i can run max settings @ 40fps. the newer one that is out now has a better card, that should perform somewhat better. with the discounts at the time i got the unit for less then 900 bucks.

you wont notice any difference in performance based on the cpu, its all relative to the gpu in the laptop. i7 i5 i3 are going to give almost the same performance, but the battery life will deminish as you go to more powerful cpus.

Also solid state drives offer almost no gaming performance difference between spindle.

http://www.dell.com/...ware-14/**.aspx new model with the 765M
http://www.dell.com/...-r2/**?~ck=anav referb with the 650M

you dont need the larger 2gb memory with the 650M
