Hi,

I get decent FPS with my rig, but i always turn the shadows low/off in my games because i think they don't add much for a horrendous performance cost. but in MWO when I set the cursor on LOW, the shadows starts glitching and flickering, it's atrocious.

Is there a way to remove shadows completly? thanks :)

I agree. I wish we could turn them off completely so I can 'up' other options.

the ability (need?) some people have to looking for a fight when there is nothing to fight about will never cease to amaze me.

Also, shadows work fine on low for me.

Yes, lets just remove it instead of actually fixing the problem.
Because flat out permanently removing shadows right now is better then waiting for a fix.

Pretty sure you completely missed the point of this thread. He wants to disable shadows on his machine. He doesn't want PGI to remove shadows from the game.

Penguin is the worst white knight I've seen in a while.

Fact of the matter is a game's lowest setting should disable shadows since its such a resource hogging detail (its what happens in other games), and in MWO that doesnt happen.

Worse, nevermind lowest settings..even playing with custom configs I havent managed to disable them yet..

I really feel like this game was rushed into open beta, some things just should be waay more developed by now.

Does not work. The config im using atm has everything-related-to-shadows=0 and they're still there..

Ok, lets hax0r it little more.

Open attributes.xml
Find this line:
<Attr name="OptionCfg.sys_spec" value="0"/>

(value may differ, nevermind)

Replace with

<Attr name="OptionCfg.sys_spec" value="-1"/>

Save.
Try, should do the trick.

P.S. e_shadows=0 still has to be inside user.cfg

Yes you must use the -1 value, not 0. (for sys-spec value)

And it should work after that.
