So, I looked at sarna.net to see what we're in for with the Blackjack... and I couldn't find any variants that used 2 UAC5s.
I mean, unless you're talking about the omnimech of the same name that came out later.
I was all excited about this prospect until I saw that the omni upped the tonnage of the original Blackjack from 45 to... 50. Just like every other medium mech. (The Cicada feels more like a light with a steroid problem.)
I'd really like to see a 45 and a 55 ton mech.

Theres already been much debate about this on the original announcement thread.
Yes - it looks like whoever wrote it sourced the 50t 3057 omnimech link from sarna.net instead of the original 45t mech.
However they are claiming its only a customisation of the original mech.
So its likely to be a 45t 2ac2 4ml jump4 mech. with a 2LL variant.
No IS omnimech for the next 6 years or so.

The normal Inner sphere 3049 Blackjack is a 45 tonner
The BJ-1 has 2x AC2 and 4x Medium Laser. you will be able to load 2x Ultra/5s if you squeeze 'em in

Yeah. I'm really hoping that this isn't going to be the 5th 50t mech,

It's pretty clear from the story that he was using a modified Blackjack. Just because this is the first time they told a story with an actual custom build, doesn't mean it can't be so

Doesn't the opening of the story say he had saved up for his custom config?

When I read the title to this thread, I instantly though of...."The Blackjack not firing because he is frantically trying to un-jam his guns"
I think I would have to go 2 AC5s instead. I am too nervous using the UAC5s now, so I wouldn't end up using the increased fire rate anyway.
