Hello everyone

Im a new player to MWO and new to the battletech universe.
i have played the game for a week now and i love it, its so fun to see things blow up from your mech cockpit (or your team mates if you suck as bad as me). Ive read most of the guides and charts but i still havent found a simple answer to how damage affects armor and internals.

My common sense tells me that on a succesful hit, the damage value of the weapon is deducted from the armor of the component/section hit. Then, when the armor value of a component reaches zero you start hitting the equipment inside (heat sinks, ammo, weapons, engine, actuators, gyro , sensors, life support and cockpit, depending on the component)

Beyond that i dont understand...
  • How many "HP" or damage is required to destroy these "internals"?
  • Torso "internals" for front and back are the same?
  • Do the "HP" of those "internals" varies depending on the equipment inside or is the same for a full or empty component?
  • How do critical damage applies? Does it only apply to internals? Does it crit on armor?

Would love an answer that helps.me understand this better

1. Depends on the item in question. I have not seen any definite numbers. I assume they are stored somewhere in one of the .pak files though.

2. Yes. You only have one internal per section. Armor merely protects the internal from the front or rear.

3. It is the same regardless of loadout. Its health is half of the maximum armor (front + rear) you an put on that section. The exception is the head which has 13 health.

4. Once your armor has been removed damage is done to the internal structure. Each time damage is done it has a chance to hit a component in that section. When a component is hit it takes damage and will eventually be destroyed. The chance to hit a component depends on its size.

1. Internals are worth half of what the max armor is for that location. Except the head which I believe is different

2. yes

3. no

4. Critical damage hurts components. It can destroy the weapon or cause an ammo explosion that will actually damage the health of the mech. Critical damage is supposed to only hurt components after armor has been removed. Crits do not affect the health of the mech unless you cause a Gauss or ammo explosion. Crits themselves only damage components.

Correct. Head is 15 HP on all mechs, so by default you need > 33 damage to headshot a full health mech in one hit.
