Do Weapons Of The Same Type Generate More Heat If Fired Simultaneously?

At some point, I know they considered making weapons of the same type generate more heat if fired simultaneously, and they are in the same section. This would nerf the Swayback with a bunch of Small Lasers, and encourage weapon diversity.
Did they implement this?
Can you chain-fire to get around this?
An unrelated question: if Artemis is installed, does it increase the weight of SSRM2s?

According to some tests and articles at mercspec, no, stacking does not generate more heat.
BUT! Chainfiring will allow more control of your overall heat, thus less likely to cause an overheat.

I actually think Artemis takes up 1 ton and 1 slot per launcher installed. However, since they do not benefit SSRM2s, I wasn't sure if it applied to SSRM2s.

Dang, yeah you're right Pale Jackal. They add 1 ton and slot to the weapon itself.

I would enjoy seeing more build diversity and fewer boats.

It was an idea that the devs wrote about as speculative, possible balance tweak during Closed Beta. It was never implemented in the Closed or Open Beta.

Nope not applied on sSRM2 but not sure if it really don't influence it. When you've 1 ArtemisLRM and 5xsSRM2 and target something you get it locked faster (because of LRM Artemis). When you are now able to fire the streaks than there is indeed an influence. But not sure this works...

The equipment upgrade prerequisites for the system will show a requirement of 1 ton and 1 slot free for each missile rack installed on the mechs current load-out. 1 missile rack installed = 1 ton and 1 slot, 2 missile racks installed = 2 tons and 2 slots, etc.

Artemis has no effect on Streak SRMs, and thus when you add the Artemis upgrade to your mech it is ignored if you are using Streaks. For standard SRMs and for LRMs it will add (as stated) 1 ton and 1 crit slot to each launcher installed.

Yep. Artemis and Streak are incompatible, so it doesn't get mounted on Streak launchers.
Anything else, however will. It makes Artemis more effective on single larger launchers than multiple smaller ones- 2xLRM 15 only adds two tons and two crits, while 6x LRM 5 adds SIX of each instead.
