So I have convinced a number of my friends to join the open beta (I have found more my master) and they all seem to really be enjoying it so far.

The only complaint they have right now is that "It's way too grindy to get your first mech." especially if you want a heavier mech that isn't a light.

So what I'm suggesting is that for players who do not own a mech yet they recieve a free C bill boost untill they buy their first mech. This will make it more friendly for people that want to jump right in to the game quicker! Also so people don't abuse it, there will be a cap on how many C bills they can gain.

So I think this is a pretty good idea that wont mess around with their buisness model, what do you guys think?! :)

Make that all players. This lack of cbill is what's messing with their business model. Why would people buy hangar slots when they don't make enough to buy mechs to fill the 4 they've already got?

Or just starting CBills. Enough to cover a simple medium or heavy mech. Play some trial mechs to see what you like, then buy one. I can really see the "farming" issue for your first mech being a major downer for new players who want to join.

I agree with this, totally. I think the a starting stipend of c-bills to a new account would be greatly helpful to people starting the game, and customizing a mech would help new players learn what mechs do.

I do have one thought, though: rather than having a free number of c-bills (if that would be farmable/exploitable), perhaps there would be a way to simply give a player a free mech. Some sort of voucher system, maybe, with only 3 or 4 options on what they could pick. Not the awesome, so players still have something to work towards, and maybe not the jenna or other mechs that would be trickier to play. "Start playing and get a free medium mech!" for example. You can't give your mech away, so it shouldn't be an issue, and giving players something that is arguable less powerful than the trial mechs would not break the game in any way.

This game needs an economy and a way to trade MC for c-bills. This way new players could purchase MC and trade them for c-bills if they wanted to get started quickly. Helps out veterans who can save realy money and helps out newbs because they can get started quickly.
