Or the people who can't handle friendly fire could go play something more suited to their "overly sensitive" nature.

What if everyone learned to play and show a little discipline with regard to where their weapons are aimed, then the hardcore griefers ended up banned? Problem solved without dumbing the gameplay down for "least common denominator" players. Win-win.

Do you want the game to thrive with a large and growing player base or sink into obscurity like Living Legends did?

Basically, I'm totally cool with keeping FF on; sometimes **** happens and friendlies get hit.

However, I do think a monetary penalty at the end of the match should be factored in somehow; either the player causing the FF damage gets a C-Bill penalty at the end of the match or the victim of FF doesn't have to pay for damage caused by FF...or both.

Exactly. And some people can handle that level of realism, and some can't. Those who can should have fun, and those who can't should move along to something more their speed. Pure simplicity.

Accidental teak kill may be tolerable. There are some idiots that do it for fun and should be banned from the game. Players named "Mechwarrior Franchise" and "Garth Erian" started shooting their teammates in the back and killing at the drop site and were laughing about it in the chat announcing they were with the opposing forces. This is more than annoying, I think it ruins the game for everyone.

There are players that drop on the opposing team and then shoot their team mates in the back at the drop site to start a new game and see if they can drop together on their next game. I was in a game 12/1 at 5:20PM, "Grath Erian" and "Mechwarrior Franchise" wiped their own team by shooting them in the back. This is unacceptable. These folks should be banned from the game.

How do you deal with indirect fire from LRMs? TKing has dropped way off since our theory testing fool got everyone riled up. I've seen a grand total of 1 in the last week - which I can't even be sure wasn't because of a graphic bug/yellow screen and the guy was just firing up what he thought was an enemy.

Jim you need to send a report to the support - name and shames are not allowed in the forum here.

If the OP is talking about a game just starting and being the victim of friendly fire - report the person to support. They take this kind of thing very seriously and will ban players after checking their stats and watching them in action.

If the OP is talking about a game which has developed into a full-fledged brawl, then the current punishments are enough. Here is some helpful advice:

- Don't want to be killed by your support mate lobbing LRMs? - maybe you shouldn't be humping the enemy mech's leg...

- Don't want to be shot in the back? Be aware of your surroundings and don't move into your mate's firing line of sight. Just because the enemy mech is circling doesn't mean you have to as well.

I have unfortunately team killed because of people not paying attention. Of late, I was even team killed for team killing a mate of theirs who was being an ***** since he moved into three other mech's line of fire expecting to not get hit just to get the kill. I didn't report this little Jenner noob because I could at least understand why the kill was made, even if it wasn't accurate. Had we not been winning, I would have reported him immediately - as it was, I just didn't care. I made more than enough to repair my mech.

This is a team game - and should be played as such. The kills are not important but winning is. If you are trying to get the kill before everybody else does, then expect good players to take shots at an open enemy and have your armor melted or even be killed by moving into their open shot.

I have no sympathy for those who have died through their own lack of awareness or inability to play. In fact, the fact I am penalized for accidentally killing the ***** upsets me. I think justice is served simply by the other pilot having a repair bill for being an *****.

If I see a teammate disconnects at the start of the match, I'll let the team know that i'm going to kill his mech. The action of disconnection at the start just shows the person is not committed to the match and disrespects the rest of the team. If I disconnect as soon as the match starts for whatever reasons, I'll expect no less than to die at the hands of my team. I hope they do implement a report system, but until they do, I'll take the matter into my own hands.

Wow.

So everybody who disconnects has just disrespected you? What about the game client crashing? I suppose that disconnect disrespects you too.

Or what about a server losing connection. I guess that disrespects you as well...

I suppose having the yellow screen and no HUD bug disrespects you as well...

I have a good idea for you though - how about instead of killing the other mech, you actually go out and win the match. Seems like less of a waste of time than your current mindset....

Program MWO to have "friendly-fire" auto self-hit the offender, with no damage whatsoever to the friendly target.

End of problem. Very quickly, the offending shooter learns to aim better; or finds there is an immediate consequence for this type of malevolent behavior.

I just had the luck of running into 2 matches with players that for no reason tryed to kill off all the mechs on their team. couldent help but remmember an old mechanic for dealing with TK. when a player shots a team mate enough then the team gets to vote them out of the match. its simple grieffers dont get to play for long and eventualy they stop doing it.

Seems like a pretty accurate depiction of pre-clan-invasion IS warfare to me. Don't change anything.
