Great Game Ruined By Lobby

As the title suggests , what is going on with that buggy *** piece of crap lobby. Did you get the local primary school kids to code that or what???

A - No decent chat options
B - Mechs are continually being deselected randomly.
C - Loadout's often fail to save and some even save incorrectly.
D - Switching to update can often cause the lobby to crash.


(A) - To me this is the biggest issue of all, you nerf group size to 4 because people are getting busted up by premades. Yet the main cause of this is your lack of a place for players to meet , chat and form groups. Biggest fail in your game in my humble opinion.

I agree, the lobby should have a better chat/friends list option instead of having it open another window where nothing else can be done except to look at the friendslist...

Maybe instead try to have it intergrated in the same window on the side or something? Just a suggestion. Maybe that's what's already planned for the future or something, but if it is, I have no knowledge of it.

As it stands now, the current setup isn't going to work that well for the social aspect of the game.

I have to agree that the Graphical User Interface, what you call lobby is worse than some Mechwarrior titles back then in the 90's..

The explanation of PGI what i heard so far was always because this feature is not the main priority.

The lobby could use some improvements, sure, but I honestly don't think it ruins the game. I don't get to do any less giant robot shooting because of it.

I would not say it ruins the game. However initial impressions count. Making it so we can:

A: Have a general chat room. Perhaps factional as well.
B: PLEASE fix the random deselect bug. It is very irratating. I do not want the program randomly deselecting my mechs after every match.
C:Alt tabing after a loss sometimes cause the whole program to crash.

Well I know they said they have planned a proper "Lobby", cant remember where I read that though. Also,I read that in January or February next year they will release what they call GUI 2.0. That is a completely redesigned Graphics User Interface or as OP calls it, "Lobby".

No, that's a menu system. Or that's what I call it.

It's not bad as a menu system.

As a lobby it fails as hard as hard could fail.

They haven't actually implemented any kind of lobby, so at the end of the day, saying that the Lobby sucks really means nothing at the moment. I cant wait until they have a lobby though, not to mention built-in VOIP

I keep going into matches with a 4-man group, where two of the other 4 are ******* AFK the whole round. In assault mechs. Fabulous.

The last sentence tells a lot about the pattern of decision making done by the developer.

By not implementing a proper game "lobby" or social window where all players /guilds/clans can meet and arrange groups in a game which REQUIRES team play and strategy they created the problem of pug rolling.

Of course the typical knee jerk reaction is to limited drops to 4 per group, which still amounts to organized groups rolling pugs.

In any game like real life, organized groups will more than often outperform random mobs. So the proper way to resolve this is to implement an in-game function where pugs can intereact and group up.

Not everyone wants to group a merc corp/faction or use team speak.
