So if say 1/4-1/2 of the people you were about to kill DC'd just before you killed them you'd still find the game fun?
Admittedly it isn't that bad yet, but the trend seems to be on the rise. I let it go at first, it was rare enough...but it is getting hard to now...and it is bad enough that at least slightly the game has become less fun for myself and many others.

This community does that a lot.

It's a pretty inflammatory topic by nature, but why would you try to make it worse...?

I've seen this happen exactly once, to a team mate, in closed beta.

i haven't noticed it that much. definitely have noticed it, but it was going on all the time in the closed beta too (more frequently quite frankly)
since open beta i've dropped over 400 matches, and i probably have seen less than a dozen dc's before death. not counting dc's away from combat. towards the end of closed beta, in the same 400ish drops i'd probably see 4-5 dozen

Fair enough, I've had a different experience...Went from "IF it was happening, I didn't notice", to now "I notice several every play session that either occur to me, or others I'm playing with on TS"... that last more then an hour or so" If you are only playing an hour or so it could be very easy for it to go unnoticed or you've just been luckier then some of us.
Also to be fair, it is a lot easier to pick up on if you are playing on TS more then pugs....You'll hear your teammate say something about it when it happens to them and/or see it actually happen.
I've got a total of more like 2000-3000 games. (503 games since the last wipe)...which doesn't make me cool or anything but I play a lot, and I play long sessions so it may be more visible to me then some others that don't.

PEOPLE WHO DISCONNECT BEFORE DYING GET 0 C-BILLS AND XP AFTER A MATCH, BUT A FULL REPAIR BILL.
So stop it. Oh, you didn't get a kill. Big deal. Your team still gets all the salvage, you still get all rewards for damage done and components destroyed prior to the DC. Yeah, you do not get c-bills and XP for the kill itself. But the guy on the other end gets a 60-100K repair bill without anything to show for it. Being a sore looser is kinda expensive these days.
BTW, it may soon become a punishable offense and Santa Claus is coming to town. He's making a list, and checking it twice.

Exactly. It's not that big of an issue. If stats were visible to all, it could become a problem. But it's not.

Didn't really feel like I was trolling. Just calling it like I see it. Guy lost a kill, makes a post about how rage quits are becoming an epidemic. When it's really a non-issue compared to so much other stuff in/not-in the game.

K/D ratio is like e-**** to some of these FPS crazy kids, something you stroke yourself to in private.

except of course, that a ton of people doing it are in Trial Mechs, which means no repair bill, so no reason to care.

The only stat that matters is W/L ratio.

Not an issue for you yet...I'd like it to not be an issue for as many of us as possible.
Clearly it is starting to become an issue for some.
I'll gave the OP the benefit of the doubt that it hadn't just happened once...I know that is why I bothered to post in this thread. I saw it happen...then I saw it start to happen more and more.
If it isn't so bad that it bothers you, that is great...I really hope the majority aren't all that bothered...and stay that way, because despite my little rant I still find the game pretty fun....some have less tolerance though, but the game needs a large community to thrive, and grow and last...and I'd like to see that happen.

if you dead and stay, and say your team lost... you get compensation for losing like 80-100k cb.
if you leave the game, you'll get only whatever you done in the match (damage, assist, spot, etc etc)
where does this simple reward-punishment system that leavers don't understand???

I care about it a little, but only as one tool to help me determine if I'm getting better, and to help me determine how I stack up against the majority of other players. It isn't an E-p##n thing for me at least.
But I do want to be good at the game. I can still have fun if I'm not....but some of the fun is going from bad to good, to great...and stats can help you track that. It is a competitive game too...stats when viewed together/correlated with other stats and then compared to those of others can help you get a sense of how good you were, are, and might become. The current system is lacking IMO, but there is enough there to work with to some degree.
Personally one stat I'm interested in is average number of kills per match...to me at least as much if not more then K/D that would be something I'd be interested in knowing, and knowing how I stack up against others. I'd also like to know average damage done per match.
It is a team game, but there is also an element of individual skill...if stats help you get better even if it is just to motivate you to be more disciplined (or take more chances because you are hanging back to much not doing enough)...that helps your team.

(Though to all you blow-hards who stroke your K/Dr, and don't disco.. thank you, it is always more gratifying to blow you into component atoms)

Like I said, I just personally just get annoyed by it because it's just not in the spirit of competition. That's it really. Couldn't care less about losing a kill - I can get another one. It's just silly for people to Alt-F4 because of some phantom stat that's in your profile.

They have to repair their mech and get no money. Serves them right.
