Hi Dev's.

not strictly cannon, however it is a reality today and that is having a rate of fire toggle switch
for your anti missile weapon, perhaps a low setting of what it is now, a high rate of fire that burns through the ammo rapidly but shoots down most of a 2 x LRM 20 salvo and a medium setting somewhere in between.

This would make the 2 x anti missile atlas really something that can charged into those LRM salvos or have a good coordinated team use their antimissiles to cover one exposed lancemate..

rate of fire switches are military reality now, no reason why they should not be in the future. ie the avenger cannon in the a10c where the pilot can switch between 2400 and 4800rounds per minute.

At first, I was okay with this suggestion, but after re-thinking this, a mode like this would just make LRMs worthless, as any organized group with this function would just utilize the short window of LRM immunity to close the gap quickly and tear apart the enemy unit. At least, that's my opinion.

Fair point.

just putting it out there as a suggestion.

perhaps a command mech can link teammate antimissile that are within 50m of each other and do it without a change in rate of fire....

perhaps that is way to get more involved C3 aspects of warfare happening other than target spotting

(I know there is battletech cannon, but there is also a reasonable extrapolation of what technology can/could do)
