I take damage going up hills.
I also take damage running over small objects... As well as small bumps.
Needs a tweaking yes?

It's definitely oversensitive, but you'll only notice it if you're in a fast 'mech. It's like it's taking your lateral speed into account when you hit the ground to determine if it hurts or not.

It's a velocity bug that sometimes applies as if you fell; something borked out in the last patch. Before that patch falling damage was on-track, and before THAT one, regular falling was a bit too sensitive but it didn't happen merely from moving around.

Pretend you're using MASC.
Seems legit.

We need some sort of disadvantage, we run through Assault 'Mechs for goodness sake!

It is terrible at the moment. If you are in a light running at 150kph you will have taken a decent chunk of damage to your legs by the time you reach the enemy, especially on rough terrain as even small bumps in the ground can be enough to trigger fall damage.
