The idea behind my Dragon build is that you are there to provide support for your assault mechs. That will usually involve killing mediums / lights trying to sneak around the back, or taking out LRM support mechs. The Dragon is exceptionally fast, so its very good in this role. You can manage to keep pace with a stock commando very well, and you can move fast enough to intercept cicadas and jenners fairly well.

The build is somewhat expensive, as it relies on double heat sinks and an XL engine to get maximum performance.

XL300 engine
20 double heat sinks
400/402 armor (-1 on each leg)
62/18 CT
38/18 RT and LT

2 ER Large Lasers in the shoulder mount
2 Medium Lasers in the arm mount
AMS w/ 1 ton ammo
SSRM2 w/ 1 ton ammo

Weapons grouping:
Medium Lasers + SSRM on 1
ER LL's on 2

Because of the extreme range of the large lasers, you can seriously damage light mechs as they run up to you, or as they run away. You can also force any catapults to keep their heads down. The 20 double heat sinks allow you to fire your 2ML+SSRM continuously, while occasionally mixing in LL blasts. You can alternatively fire your 2LL's maybe 6-8 times before overheating on most maps, which is enough to strip the armor from most targets completely (at least if your accurate).

With a bit of reallocation of the front armor, you'll be tougher than pretty much anything besides an assault mech, so if you notice a few enemy missile boats without support, feel free to dash through the missile fire to go kill them. As long as there are no support mechs, you'll weather the fire without taking serious damage, and then make short work of them.

When dealing with lights, Go for the legs. They are much easier to hit than anything else on the mech, and as soon as you blow one off, you can easily take out the remaining leg while it stumbles about. The commando is the exception to this rule, you can pretty much just shoot it anywhere and it dies.

On high heat maps, like caustic, I find it best to use chain fire on the large laser group, because firing both at once tends to overheat my mech WAY too fast. You'll still overheat with this, but its no worse than any other mech I find.

This is Good build but if you As you are saying going aganst light mechs or supporting heavies Try This build
Dragon1c maxium xlEngine that will give you 97 kph with spead tweak it is more EndoSteel!!!
2LargeLasers in the arms 2 medium pulse in the torso 1 srm6 and 1ton of ammo AMS 1 ton of ammo
Use the Right arm as a Shield Remember the Best armor is NOT Getting hit at all use Speed it will provide more armor to you
with maximum xlengine you will have 14 doubleheatsinks it is 28 heat disspersal do not use Rear armor you are making a mistake if you have people shooting your back at top speed of 100kph The only thing that will chase you is a Jeniier or Cicada But you should Case it Instead dont worry I promise all the Light mechs will stay away from you
Armor
10 head
Torso
50/6
70/10
50/6
Arms
30
40
Legs
24
24
you can Add your 2 Erlargelaser but i wont reccommend what is the point of them you can shoot 2 times with large lasers and deal more damage because of heat and you can remove med pulse to normal one
i dont reccommend streaks because 1 streak srm is not frightning 1 srm6 will atleast get 2 missle hit or more better put lrm10 in that spot 1missle slot is just poor i never use Dragon 1c i use 1N variant and put streaks there
