This is a seriously noobish question seeing as I've been playing for quite a while... But where can I find double heat sinks anyway?

No matter how hard I look, I can only find the standard heatsinks... Are they only for heavier mechs or something?

no, in the mechlab, you must look for "Upgrades" (where you can also upgrade to Endosteel and FF), and then have 1.5 million ready to unlock them for that chassis.
these 1.5 million will also make your engine-internal heat sinks double, but those you want additionally you have to buy then. at that point, they will appear exactly there where you select your single heat sinks now.

Ooooohhh, Thank you. While we're at it though, can someone explain how to upgrade to Endosteel armor? Do you have to tear down all of the armor off the mech entirely, then rebuild with whichever armor you want?

Same thing, it is in the upgrade tab, as is Ferrofibrous and Artemis.

Be careful before upgrading, depending on your mech you have to be choosy as to which you want to invest in and if you buy too many upgrades you will be paying to have them removed.

I would always choose Endo over Ferro, but both require 14 slots to accommodate. If you are a laser heavy unit, you might not have the room after putting on the double heat sinks.

Always plan ahead and do some counting
