Endosteel upgrade or Ferro Fibrous armour?
Its still early days for me upgrading mechs, and it seems easy to do it wrong and waste all your money.
So far I've opted for FF armour on both of my mechs, it seemed to give me a fair bit more armour on my Raven, but very little on my HBK.
I haven't looked at Endosteel skeleton upgrade yet - What does this do exactly?
Is it possible to get both upgrades on one mech? Currently mine say 'not enough slots' so I'm guessing I'd have to remove stuff to fit the endo?
And if I cant have both, which should I choose?
Cheers
Chuff

currently there is near to no point taking FF over normal armor.
The reason is simple : you only gain 12% of the allocated tonnage for armor. This means, for example, that an Atlas, with around 600 max armor, can allow up to 19 tons to armor.
So with FF you gain 12% from 19 = 2.28 tons for the same amount of armor for an atlas chassis.
Endo-steel gives you 5% of the TOTAL weight, in this case, 5 tons from the 100.
The gain is even less worthwhile with lighter mechs (around 1 tons for a 35 tons chassis with FF, against 1.75 tons for endo-steel).
Adding that FF armor is far more costly to repair (3 times more in fact), there is definately no point taking it, saving you still have enough crit slots to spare.
Not worth the 14 slots cost, adding the fact there is no particular resistance (yet ?) against some weapons (from memory, FF was laser-resistant in other MW games, but weaker to other type of weapons...).
I advise to choose endo-steel, better weight gain, and much cheaper to buy/repair.

This has been heavily discussed (if you search the forums, you will find a few threads). However, here is a quick answer. From my understanding, at this point it is never better to use FF.
See: http://mwomercs.com/...-fibrous-armor/
For a handy chart.
As I understand it, the problem is that FF doesn't increase total max allowed armour - It just makes the current amount of armour lighter. If it allowed you to chuck a few more points on the CT and other key area it *might* be worth it for large mechs (12% more survivability), or *possibly* mechs at risk of neutering (i.e. the Wang). As it is set up now...it is always inferior to endo steel, and usually to double heat sinks also.

Well if only I'd found that out before I wasted my c-bills, I did wonder why I spent so much and gained so little with the FF
Thanks for the tips
