I think they should have started the game way before 3049. Go way back to 3025 with an accelerated timeline, that way they could have put in more historical events and not have the clans be all over us a few months after lanuch. Heck, new players who join late are going to be joining right in the mix of the clan invasion and be asking ***?!

The success of the Kodiak in TT is based on its weapon layout - the Ultra 20 in combination with double SSRM6s may kill a heavy IS Mech within a single salvo. Same is with the NightGyr A even the IS have a similar design - the HGN-734 Highlander

Not so sure how this weapons will turn out in real time simulation. Short or medium range at best...not really mobile

Th default Kodiak is very much a close range brawler, similar to the Atlas.

For me that is more of a downside than upside. close range equipment is better on fast raider mechs, such as the Storm Crow, not on the heavy assault mechs. Being sniped by Longbows, Hollanders, or Wolf Hunters is never good.

I would trade its close range weapons for mid-long range ones.

This pic does it right.

Nice pic, it looks like the Kodiak is somewhere in northern Russia, the environment suits it.

You have a good point, I suppose having the Kodiak in close quarters could be its down fall, but what I can remember from the original Mech Warriors, is once the Kodiak got close and personal there wasn't much stopping it. The Kodiak was really powerful in close quarters, which I thought helps make up for its lack of range. Also if you spec the Kodiak right you can get it to be a pretty decent medium-long range Mech as well id say.

I can definitely agree with you there, I wish the time line was around the clan invasion as well, I liked the clan Mechs much better. Oh well.

Peopling thinking its slow, its not for a 100 ton mech, with a speed of 64 KPH from its clan XL 400 it would be as fast as a Stock Victor with speedtweek so about 70.4 kph with jumpjets and more armour than even a highlander. It would be the first clan mech i would buy. Also people calling its ballistic as a AC20, you are missing a letter on it since it would be a Ultra AC20.

If you think the Kodiak is going to break the game, you've got another think coming. The Warhawk, or, gods forbid, the Hellstar- now THOSE will break the game. 60 pinpoint damage at any location, good speed, and just as heat efficient as the 4 PPC 40 damage IS mechs. The Hellstar is heat neutral, ffs. The Warhawk comes with a targeting computer, which presumably will help with a HUD indicator for lead time, and an LRM10 to add missiles to injury. People have been playing around with hypothetical loadouts, and even if the Direwolf doesn't get any extra hardpoints, it will still be capable of a 120 damage alpha strike without severe heat problems.

Personally, I can't wait.

While I appreciate this communities fear of the Hellstar, Timber Wolf, and Dire Wolf all will suffer from what I like to call big head, all the firepower in the world wont help you when half your CT is cockpit (ask K2 pilots) the Kodiak will mount just as much firepower(it has 9 energy hardpoints) without the kill me button of a big head. Forgot to add the Kodiak can mount JJ's
