They should implement ME4 armoring system. FF standard, no extra space requirement, along with Reactive and Reflective armor types, both weights twice as much as FF, but provides twice as much armoring for either projectile/missile or energy weapons. Base armor points of mechs stay canon, not doubled.

It's only 3049 right now in MWO.

according to canon.. from http://www.sarna.net...i/Ferro-Fibrous

"The maximum amount of protection is not changed; merely the weight of armor required to achieve that level of protection. For a unit which already has maximum armor protection, it is therefore considered a weight-saving measure, at the cost of critical space. The weight savings for Endo Steel are greater than those saved by ferro-fibrous armor, but it is more costly and obviously more difficult to repair or add as an upgrade to a 'Mech."

Meh.

Blindly adhering to table-top rules for a video game does not make good sense.

The Inner-Sphere version of Ferro-Fibrous was never good, and only rarely used when players had the option. The teeny-tiny boost to armour just isn't worth the 14 critical spaces.

Finding a way to make it less sucky might help justify its price tag, and the OP's idea is a fine one. It's not over-powered in the least, and it gives an extra perk for those who want it.
