I agree. Stupid freebirths. "Timber Wolf", now *that* is a name you can get-behind. /firmnod Not to mention the chassis itself is the very incarnation of battlefield grace and beauty. Do not even get me started on extolling the virtues of the weapons arrays of the different variants.
As to the topic at hand... "Scarabus". What even IS that?

Linebacker is stupid. Woodsman is borderline at best. But the others? Really? You do know that Jagermech come from the German for Hunter right?
I think putting -hawk at the end of a name is a little silly, as is putting -mech at the end of a name.
Had the names been:
Shadow
Pheonix
Urban
Jaeger
They would not have made the list (well Urban would have, but Urbie may have gotten a pass)

Bandersnatch...
Though once I took a look at it I thought the design was pretty sweet.

Out of all the cheesy or overdone names or names that just don't make sense it is this singular mech that I can't stand because of it.
Albatross.
Seriously. It might as well be named 'Pidgeon of the sea'. There is nothing remotely militaristic or charming about it.
The best names are ones like Whitman or Blackjack or Jenner... they don't sound like they're trying to toot their own horn or something that's just blatantly named after a fearsome animal, but rather something that might actually be military equipment or a manufacturer's designation or even a popular name.

What about the Fire-Moth?
Dragon? (Just kidding)
Huaptmann? (Doesn't exist at this time yet...I guess it doesn't apply)
Bushwhwacker: strange name, weaker-than-I-hoped 'mech.
Kit-fox? It's like the clanners mixed "kitsune" and fox, even though they mean the same thing.
Oh well.
If I think of any REALLY weird ones I'll be back I just know it.

There is no rhyme or reason for how FASA named their mechs, and I will point out that the Unseen names (for the most part) added to the reason why the mechs were so popular... Warhammer and Marader or Flashman or Bandersnatch... you pick which is better that you want to play. It is like they got retarded after the 3025 book...

The bushwacker is a decent mech. But Bushwackers from what I know where somewhat militia during the civil war they would ambush people and the bushwacker mech has a low profile to avoid some damage and for ambush purposes. Hence your argument is invalid

The designers at Kallon Industries used the Black Hawk Clan OmniMech as the basis for the Penetrator. The Penetrator has an all energy weapons arsenal and uses twelve double heat sinks to handle the massive heat load from its weapons. The 'Mech is lacking in speed though when compared to the Black Hawk. This is because the 'Mechs designers used a Vlar 300 fusion engine for its combat durability, giving the 'Mech a top speed of 64.8 kph. To help offset the 'Mech's lack of mobility, the Penetrator has four Anderson 398 jump jets giving it added mobility with a jumping distance of one hundred and twenty meters. The Penetrator also carries a respectable thirteen tons of armor. The 'Mech's heavy armor protection, combined with its standard engine and near-non reliance on and limited amounts of ammunition, make for a 'Mech that is very rugged and hard to kill. The first Penetrators started coming off the production line in 3053.
Armament
The Penetrator carries a blistering laser array. The primary weapons are a pair of arm mounted Diverse Optics Sunbeam ER Large Lasers for long range firepower. For close range combat, the 'Mech carries six Sutel Precision Line Medium Pulse Lasers which are mounted in its right and left torsos. Finally, the 'Mech carries its only ammunition based weapon, a Yori Flyswatter Anti-Missile System, for added defense against missile attacks.
Fear the Penetrator!
