I've played MWO since closed beta, but one thing is really bugging me. Its too much like World of Tanks, because the only game mode now is about capturing each other base with one single life. That makes me sad because MWO would be way better with another mode instead.

So my question is: Why don't they add the modes of Mechwarrior 4: Vengeance and Mechwarrior: Mercenaries? Modes like: The (original) Team Deatchmatch, CTF, FFA, Arena and KOTH.

Those modes made the multiplayer of those Titles really great and made (pretty much) my childhood. So why didn't they add those instead of the mode we have now?

death match will almost never work. in this game it would just be a team of 8 atlas's with the smallest engine and most dakka dakka(firepower) sitting in a corner with only one entrance and waiting for the other team to wonder in and be one shot(by 8 people)

if there is no "cap" like thing, this is exactly what will happen. the cap makes this impossible. FFA would be abused and you know it, coordinate drops and then deal with the competition together then pick which of you feel like winning this one.

when you think about it, if there is going to be only one mode, this is the one to keep.

also, BETA more is coming.

I'm still looking forward to when they introduce Conquest Mode... that one sounds like it's going to be interesting to play...

Before Community Warfare deploys, Piranha plans to add Conquest mode, a match setting that combines a ticket system (reduce the enemy's ticket count to zero to win), capture points, and armed, functional bases. "It's not just about running to a point," says Bryan Ekman. "You have to disable or take over a portion of a base, or destroy part of the base, in order to get those tickets to count down. It's a little bit more involved, it has a little bit more strategy, and also requires player coordination."

For example, in order to use base resources like destructible turrets or autonomous scout drones, you'll have to equip a control module to your Mech prior to the match.

As for how formidable a base itself could be, Ekman said Piranha wants it to be a strategic challenge. "A team that uses the systems correctly, or attacks it correctly, can overcome it with minimal losses or deal out maximum damage. The goal is that there's a strategy to how you use these tools. Coordinated correctly and with the support of the rest of the fielded mechs, that team will win." - expert from December issue of PC Gamer

There are more game modes already announced and in the works with one apparently in final testing.... I think one of the best ways to help the current game mode is if the base provided radar coverage in a perimeter around the base slightly larger than the capture area

Back in 4 there were tons of noobs running around in Daishi's and MKII's but they were canon fodder for shadow cats, nova cats, bk's, ppc or lt gauss uziels, hunchies.. .. .. ... etc etc etc
