This has probably been discussed to death in the past, but I couldn't find too many threads about it. Is the distance blurring effect in the game so that lower end systems can run the game? Is there any plan to reduce this blurring effect since at a distance all mechs are pretty much invisible due to the blur?
Unless I'm not wearing my contacts, I can see things at distance without blur. They might be tiny in the distance, but I can still make out the outline.
Just curious!

I think that since this is an MMO or whatever variant of that, that it may be a low system thing. It's pretty annoying but luckily I have found some config options you can check one of my threads. I haven't completely gotten rid of it but it has made it more tolerable. Hopefully they set an option later to get rid of it completely, or I find a way, or the community just chomps at the bits at them about it.

Pervious beta patches (like when I first started) there was no blur at distance. Those were the sniper days, and I could put a PPC bolt or gauss round into a target as they left their base on Forest Colony. Nor was I the only one. I can still hit out fairly far, but not like back then. I suspect they put in this effect to stop the game from becoming "Mechsniper Online".

I don't know if it is a low settings thing or not but I can tell you this... it certainly doesn't help my framerates. I have been able to remove the annoying "your mech is nearsighted and a Jenner stepped on your glasses" blur with the Yaros custom config that is in the Patch Forum workaround section. and yes custom cfg files are expressly frowned upon by PGI, disclaimer et al etc... yadda yadda yadda.

To get rid of the blurring of distance, Just add this line to your user.cfg
r_DepthOfField = 0
r_DepthOfField = 0
