I'll definitely keep it in mind--it would be nice to play with some half-decent people, and I'm not referring to skill level--that community can be a bunch of cannibals at times, you know it? One thing I really appreciate about MWO is that the people are generally a friendly and laid-back bunch, competitive but not malicious as a rule. I mean, there's a thread out there my boyfriend posted about my mess of a first match, and almost all the responses were encouraging and helpful. Find that anywhere else on the internet. (It's 'The Story of Someone New', he posted it a few days ago, if you'd like to read about it.)

Allow me to correct/clarify my statement.

My (very jaded) experience on (a number of) game related forums has been that depending on the type of game you will have a certain audience that shows up (your demo question). Console games more than any other type are likely to have a slightly younger audience, however Mechwarrior being an older IP, more simulator like than most FPS, and a semi-serious Sci-fi is less likely to draw a large crowd of under 20 gamers to the forums.

It has also been my experience that the under 20 members are more likely to only/primarily post as flame bait/ trolls/ or not respond constructively, this includes honestly answering polls or even bothering to participate.

So perhaps i should not say 'forum-goers' but 'productive forum members' on a per capita basis (within each demographic), and considering the subject material, are more likely to be exactly what your poll shows based on my expectation..

EDIT: *DISCLAIMER* if my description doesn't fit you i'm not talking about you. I do not mean to malign anyone with my above statement it is simply the experiences of one individual through the lens of deep seated cynicism.

I agree with you completely, I just figured that there would be a much larger 20-and-under group that would at least click the vote button.

I was also suprised at the age spread considering the number of poorly-considered posts on here filled with logical fallacies, hyperbole, childish ultimatums, poor grammar/spelling and fanboy rage. Some guy made a thread last week about how he is happy the game got made and how he is enjoying playing it, and within like 4 replies someone had posted a huge uncensored picture of a <edit: male genitals>. This is the kind of stuff I would expect from 14 year olds, not a forum with a median age of early 30s.

As far as various forums I've posted on go, this one doesn't exactly rank at the top when it comes to maturity, logic and emotional control. According to this poll it certainly should.

I said two previous games, because I'm not entirely sure if the MechCommander games counted.
