1. And this is most important. What we see as "cockpit glass" is basically transparent armor or external sensors, either way, it qualifies as CT armor,
2. What we consider the 9 armor points of armor is the small "blow away" area that has to be made intentionally weak to allow ejecting.
To me it helps to justify why a battlemaster with its ginormous canopy, and the crab, which has no discernible windows, are both at the same relative level of vulnerability. and are both at the same relative amount of difficulty to headcap
going for a CT mounted cockpit essentially just tucks you deeper into the mech and eschews ejecting.
The only mechs that don't allow ejecting, also happen to be the sort of mechs that have so little armor that their heads have just as much if not more armor on them than the CT.
