if you are looking at the air just above where the gauss rifle is, there is a "bullet time' effect as the projectile takes off, also, if you are looking AT your target, which, I imagine you are, you will see said bullet time effect head at the mech you fired at, then a small explosion of sparks/dirt/what ever as the slug slams into its destination.

Also there is a quiet Whoosh of the gauss round being fired. So sound effect as you fire, waves coming off the round as it moves toward the target, and ammo goes down by one. Plus the "Cool-Down" bar gets smaller before you can fire it again, thus indicating that you have fired.

If you set the gauss as its own weapon group, like group 2, you will have more control over when it fires. You can touch off just that weapon and watch the effect it has on your target. Also the target's armor indicators will show damage to the section the gauss round just impacted on.

Do you have your graphics settings on high?

I'm getting the impression that you guys don't actually see the projectile...

so the gauss rifle wil be more like a rail gun instrad of a lazer beam from a visual standpoint??

it is NOT an energy weapon by any part of the imagination. it is a ballistic weapon. From a visual stand point, it fires a flashless, nonchemically propelled slug. Think of it, if this helps, as a magnetically powered BB or Pellet gun, albeit with a GIANT metal BB/Pellet instead.

Yep, it is a "rifle" not a "laser". The term "rilfe" does not make sense with laser or beam weapons as they don't fire projectiles that need spin added for in-flight stability.

fyi:
"A rifle is a firearm designed to be fired from the shoulder, with a barrel that has a helical groove or pattern of grooves ("rifling") cut into the barrel walls."

The Gauss Slug is not fired by a chemical propellant. It is sent from the gun by means of MAGNETIC PROPULSION. No sparks, no fire, just a hyper sonic chunk of metal that causes the bullet time effect you see in the MATRIX.

Yes it does. I also see an actual projectile fire at the target. Do you not see that?
