Suggestion for Trial Mechs: Customizable and GXP
To get newer players in to the Mech Lab faster and gain some experience while using/learning to use Trial Mechs.
1. Able to customize weapons and heat sinks, but no changes to armor and engine, and not allow the player to purchase upgrades or modules for the Trial Mech.
2. Trial Mech: Mech Lab where anything ones buys shows up in both regular inventory and Trial Mech usable inventory, but components and ammo removed from the Trial Mechs are visible and clearly marked non-transferable.
3. When a new Trial Mech is selected all bought components and bought ammo go back into player’s inventory and all Trial Mech components and ammo are removed from Trial Mech inventory.
4. Have to pay for Repair of customized components if damaged or destroyed
5. Have to pay for Rearm of any non-standard Ammo types or Ammo amounts over original allotment (i.e. it came with 3 tons of LRM ammo and you bought a 4th ton... you'd have to pay for that 4th tons replacement (or at least 25% of it at current rearm rate))
6. Get something like 15-25% of the normal GXP a Mech owner would get per match to show progress other than c-bills.
Reason for the suggestions would to reduce some of the frustration of the grind. Allowing players to get a feel for how the Mech Lab works early (than some 40 matches in when they can afford a Commando) and gain some experience that is transferable to a Mech they will eventually purchase.
Edit: Title should be Suggestion for Trial Mechs: Customizable and GXP but I can't delete or fix it.
