I had this occur today, spontaneous mech death. Clearly another player killed me, but it would have been nice to take damage before dying.

Since my target was a gauss cat, I can only assume the invisible bullet was a dual Gauss to the head since that is the only location where my armor was low enough that 30 damage could have actually killed me.

How is it a bug when a pair of ultra-heavy, hyper-sonic rounds penetrate your cockpit and pulverize your body before you even hear the shot being fired?

I'm also wondering what the purpose of that screenshot is?

I have died to a single hit with full or close enough to full armour remaining on all mech parts. Have been assuming it is critical hits?

Critical hits don't do bonus damage. They just destroy (disable) weapons/equipment.

You were probably nailed through the cockpit. Some of the players with 6+ months experience are getting pretty good at this whole headshot thing.

Ye but I meant more it disables your engine or something through your armour and that causes death. Not something that happens often and only recently but I could be mistaken and it could actually have been 2 people shooting me at the exact same time with ballistics or something and it just not showing I was hit.

I proably should have explained the screenshot better.
That is a picture of me dead. Note I am not spectating, that is me jumping to 3rd person on destruction.
In the upper left corner is the text indicated I was killed by another player.
Now look closely at my mech armor lower left corner. I have suffered 0 (zero just to be clear) internal damage. My heat is at a balmy 65%. Now you tell me how I died. I had to guess because my mech was in good condition when I died.

Every other time I have been killed I can see where I got killed, even if I couldn't predict it like 4 PPC to the face, why because my mechs head internals go black.

I really wish I had paid closer attention to the repair bill because based on that damage HUD it should be a couple hundred C-Bills to buff out the paint.

This is a confirmed bug that has to do with your paper doll (the armor indicator) not updating properly.

Your paper doll shows you with armor. You, in reality, did not have any and were killed.

New meta is running 4 mechs with gauss and focusing on the same target's head. Even if two of you miss, they'll still go down in one volley.
